Weekly Wellness Tip from HAP
Eat Breakfast. Studies show that people who eat breakfast eat 100 fewer calories each day than people who don't eat breakfast. Why? Because at night, your body says, "Hey, I'm one meal short! Feed me!" and you overeat. www.hap.org

Local Organizations Launch Michigan Green School in a Lunchbox Program with state-wide Art Contest for Kids
MI Green Team, ecoSTORE USA and the US Green Building Council Detroit Regional Chapter - Green Schools Committee have teamed up to offer kids a chance to show everyone what their school is doing, or could be doing to be "green" through the My Green School Art Contest.
In conjunction with the Green School in a Lunchbox! pilot program launching in three Michigan schools this April, all Michigan students grades K-5 are invited to participate in the art contest. Homeschooled children are also encouraged to participate.
"Schools play a crucial role in providing healthy, safe environments for children to learn," said Peggy Matta, chairperson of the USGBC - DRC Green Schools Committee. "The art contest and our Lunchbox! program provides an opportunity to increase awareness of sustainability in schools in a fun and engaging way."
The entries will be judged by three prominent figures in the community including Matta and artist Daniel Cascardo (www.danielcascardo.com).
The contest winners will have their art work displayed at the Green Living Festival (www.miglf.com) in Rochester, MI, May 13-15 and displayed at the ecoSTORE USA headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
"We are very happy to sponsor and promote the art contest and especially to display the winning art work at the Green Living Festival this year." said John Batdorf, President of MI Green Team and Green Living Festival event manager. "We recognize the importance of educating our youth on sustainability and we are a proud supporter of this new program." Finalists will receive prizes and be invited out to ecoSTORE USA (www.ecostoreusa.com) headquarters for a luncheon in their honor.
"Here at ecoSTORE USA we are all about providing products to families for a healthy and non-toxic environment for our children," said Lyne Appel Downing, VP of Operations. "We will be proud to display the winners of the art contest permanently at our headquarters."
"Green School in a Lunchbox!" is a web-based, vibrant, and animated "lunchbox" which introduces concepts of sustainable building to K-5th grade students. Through grade-appropriate, hands-on educational activities young students will be introduced to concepts of sustainability within the built environment and how daily choices affect our environment, community and world. Additional areas of the lunchbox will contain information for teachers, parents and administrators on the value of green schools.
For more information on the Green School in a Lunchbox! program, please visit the US Green Building Council, Detroit Regional Chapter - Green Schools Committee website: http://drc-usgbc.org/committees/green-schools-advocacy.html or contact Peggy Matta at mmatta@drc-usgbc.org.

The special exhibit also features historical images, memorabilia and extensive narrative that chronicles Jeep's embodiment of freedom and pride for seven decades.

Of the 20 restored vehicles, eight are in the U.S. Willys MA78621 is on loan from the private collection of George and Bernadette Hollins of Palos Park, Ill. who have traced the vehicle's origins back to July 5, 1941, the day it was delivered to the U.S. Army from the Willys-Overland plant in Toledo, Ohio. It is believed to be one of four MA shipped to the 15th Infantry for testing in Fort Lewis, Wash.
MA78621 was discovered rusting away in a farmer's field near Fort Lewis in 2001 and was restored the following year.
Visit wpchryslermuseum.org to confirm the specific Jeep models on exhibit with the 1941 Willys MA prior to visiting the Museum.
