Good News! Trent Design featured in metromode!
Read what metromode has to say about Trent Design's Smart Growth...
For most companies the mantra is: grow big and grow fast. Of course, given the current economy, any growth would be a blessing. But what if slow growth were the long term strategy? With a focus on work/life issues, purpose, and entrepreneurial pride, some Metro Detroit firms have consciously decided they'd rather be the tortoise than the hare.

THE CRITTENTON WOUND HEALING CENTER HELPS CANCER SURVIVORS WITH
LEADING EDGE TREATMENT FOR RADIATION INJURIES TO THE JAWBONE (Rochester, MI) - You would think that after surviving cancer, having a tooth extracted would be as easy as a walk in the park. Yet people who undergo radiation therapy of the head or neck are more likely to be at risk for osteoradionecrosis (ORN), delayed bone damage caused by radiation which is most commonly found in the mouth. The extraction of teeth in a previously radiated jaw accounts for nearly nine out of 10 cases of injury induced mandibular (jaw) radionecrosis. It seems counterintuitive when cancer survivors gauge success in the passage of time, yet there is greater risk of ORN five years after radiation versus one year later since the degenerative process is progressing beneath the surface without outward signs.
Complications from ORN can result in uncontrolled pain, difficulty opening the mouth, bone fractures, nutritional deficiency caused by difficulty eating, chronic wounds and the loss of large areas of soft bone and tissue
The Crittenton Wound Healing Center uses leading edge hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) to treat ORN. Patients relax on a bed incased in a large see-through plastic shell as they are surrounded by 100 percent oxygen at higher-than-normal atmospheric pressure. This treatment allows oxygen molecules to pass through the plasma to the tissue more easily and speeds healing.
The Crittenton Wound Healing Center recommends the following for preventing, identifying and treating ORN:
· ORN is often not visible and may be diagnosed by x-ray, CT scans, MRI or biopsy. The doctor may ask for your radiation therapy records to determine exact location and dose of radiation you received.
· Patients considering radiation therapy of the head or neck should consider a pre-radiation dental consultation to optimize oral health.
· ORN risk factors include inadequate healing time between undergoing oral surgery and starting radiation therapy, extractions within irradiated bone.
· Quit smoking. Radiation is successfully used to treat many types of head and neck cancer caused by tobacco use. · The most common symptom of ORN is bone pain. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy can help in pain management if the pain is due to ORN and not recurring cancer or other causes.
For more information about ORN and treating and preventing chronic wounds, contact Crittenton Wound Healing Center located at 1101 W. University Dr., Rochester, MI or call (248) 652-5454.

DON'T LET ACCIDENT OR INJURY RUIN YOUR
SUMMER FUN Crittenton Wound Healing Center offers summer safety tips
(Rochester, MI) A summer to do list usually contains such carefree items as buying suntan lotion, catching the latest movie blockbuster and settling into a good paperback instead of something as mundane as restocking the first aid kit. Emergency rooms see a spike in visits during the summer as people spend more time outdoors and pursue activities they don't have time for during the rest of the year. The Crittenton Wound Healing Center offers the following safety tips to help keep your summer accident and injury free. · Break in new shoes before wearing them on a hike or vacation. People with diabetes, are at a higher risk for chronic foot wounds. · For minor burns: relieve pain and prevent contamination by submerging the burn in cool water. Use sterile dressings but don't apply ointment or home remedies such as butter or petroleum jelly that may seal in heat or cause infection. · Children, the elderly and those with high blood pressure have increased risk for heat exhaustion and, during warm days, should drink more water and stay away from beverages containing caffeine, alcohol or large amounts of sugar. · Always wash your hands after being outside because dirty hands are a primary source of infection. · Insect repellents can help reduce exposure to mosquito bites that may carry viruses. Use enough repellent to cover exposed skin but don't apply it to cuts, wounds or irritated skin. For more information on treating chronic or infected wounds, contact the Crittenton Wound Healing Center located at 1101 W. University Dr., Rochester, MI 48307 or call (248) 652-5454 ###

This fun summer experience takes place Thursday, July 15, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. starting from the parking lot at Dinosaur Hill where we will arrange car pools. A box lunch is included. Pewabic Pottery was founded in 1903 by Mary Chase Perry Stratton who developed an iridescent glaze for her pottery that is identical with that on fragments of pottery excavated in Persia, which made Mrs. Stratton immediately famous in the world of ceramic art. Pewabic Pottery is now found in the Detroit Institute of Arts, Smithsonian in Washington, D.C., the Louvre in Paris and in hundreds of local buildings. The "Behind the Scenes" tour includes watching working artists and a visit to the museum and store. Pewabic Pottery is at 10125 E. Jefferson, 4 miles north of downtown Detroit. It is housed in a charming 1908 Tudor Revival building, a National Historic Landmark.
The cruise embarks at 1:00 on Diamond Jack, (a 65' sightseeing vessel) at the Rivard Plaza Dock, just upstream from the Renaissance Center. The tour presents highlight of the Detroit and Windsor, Ontario skylines along with historical anecdotes about both cities.
