The Art of Networking
At networking events have you ever felt dismissed by someone "working the room" because you're not a prospect for them? Or "pounced-on" by hungry aggressive people who think you could be a prospect? Or worse yet, have you ever done any of the above to someone else when you were networking?  If you answered yes to any of the above questions, learn The Box Step, a simple four-step process that makes networking fun, easy and productive, even if you are an introvert.

A previous banking attendee produced $13 million dollars of additional business during a 12 week pilot using the Box Step process.  Subsequent training of 800 additional staff members resulted in another $140 million dollars in additional business. Another attendee, an international shipping company, increased its volume of shipments by 39.6 percent over a 90 day period.
Genisys Named Best of Michigan Business
Auburn Hills, MI, February 17, 2010 - Genisys Credit Union was selected by the readers of Corp! Magazine as a 2009 "Best of Michigan Business" and was honored yesterday at the 3rd Annual Awards Breakfast in Troy. Genisys was selected as an honoree in the Banks and Credit Unions category for "surviving, thriving and growing in the State of Michigan."

"It's such an honor to be recognized as a 'Best of Michigan Business' by citizens in the Metro Detroit area," said Dianne Addington. "We feel a social responsibility to do the right thing for our members and the communities we serve, so it's refreshing to know that the public values and reinforces these efforts."

According to Corp! Magazine, their higher calling is "to feature positive business practices and people in the State of Michigan, not only to elevate the image of businesses in Michigan, but to also create a ripple affect for the good news to spread among media and the business community as a whole." They accomplish this by "saluting diversity leaders and businesses, featuring businesses driving our economy, the universities developing our future and honoring people who excel at customer service."

Genisys is listed in the 2010 January/February issue of Corp! Magazine and is also featured online at www.corpmagazine.com.

Genisys Credit Union is glad to be part of your community, and we truly believe that Genisys is "where you come first." Follow our community involvement on Facebook at www.facebook.com/genisyscu and Twitter at www.twitter.com/genisyscu to find out what's going on in your neighborhood. A calendar of events can also be found on our Web site at www.genisyscu.org.

DATE SET FOR THE 2010 AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY RELAY FOR LIFE
OF GREATER ROCHESTER
Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back.
Relay for Life_Photo(ROCHESTER, MI) - It's time to fight back against cancer. This year's Relay For Life will take place on June 26th at Hart Middle School begining at 9:00 a.m. and continuing through 9:00 a.m. on June 27th.

Relay For Life is the Society's signature event, dedicated to increasing awareness and raising funds to fight cancer. Teams of family, friends and co-workers not only raise dollars and camp out overnight, but also participate in fun activities and ceremonies.  In 2010, 39 teams participated in the Greater Rochester event and raised $118, 000.

"Relay For Life provides a venue where everyone can celebrate, remember, and fight back," said Patty DeShetler, Event Chairperson. "It is truly inspiring to witness the cancer survivors in our community celebrate their victory over the disease. The Luminaria Ceremony gives us a time to remember those we've lost. "

As the Society's signature event, Relay has been bringing cancer survivors and anyone touched by the disease together for more than 20 years. Held overnight in honor of the fact that cancer never sleeps, Relay For Life has grown from a single event to the largest grassroots movement nationwide.

Community members can also start or join a team by following the links to our local Relay event on www.relayforlife.org/rochestermi or donations can be made at this website.

For more information on how you can get involved there will be a kick off event at St Pauls Church 620 Romoeo Road in Rochester on March 9th,2010 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  Please contact Kathryn Brennan at Kathryn.Brennan@cancer.org  or (248) 663-3436 if you are interested in attending.
