Wow--can you believe Sunflower has been providing innovative arts-based education for over 18 years?

Our focus has always been to empower children to find their own unique voices through play and art, and this year has been no exception. As always, our classes for toddlers through teens offer abundant opportunities for kids and their parents to learn real life skills, like effective communication, conflict resolution and problem-solving in a fun, hands-on, creative arts-based environment.

Here are some of our accomplishments over the past year:
  • Sunflower was recognized by the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties' annual Nonprofits Going Green awards as an outstanding nonprofit committed to sustainable and green practices.
  • Middle and high school students in our Shakespeare for Everyone repertory group performed to standing-room-only crowds at Gumbo Limbo's outdoor amphitheater and are currently preparing free performances for after-school programs and senior centers.
  • Roots & Shoots club members grew vegetables for Boca Helping Hands in the Pearl City Community Garden, marched in Boca Raton's Annual Holiday Parade, organized their own event for the Roots & Shoots International Day of Peace Celebration, and are working with Draco's Preserve at Don Estridge High Tech Middle School to create butterfly gardens.
Over the past 18 years we have:
  • Served over 600 children and adults in Seedlings, our early childhood/parenting program
  • Served over 300 children and adults in our Mommy and Me program Little Sprouts
  • Provided over 100 parenting workshops on topics such as the developmental value of play and process oriented art, current research about children's cognitive development, the effects of our media culture on children, the importance of the oral tradition in developing reading skills, and positive ways to offer encouragement to children
  • Offered the highly acclaimed six session parenting series How To Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk eight times
  • Sponsored teacher and parent workshops in south Florida featuring nationally recognized child education experts Bev Bos and Dr. Dan Gartrell
  • Encouraged a love of music and dance in over 350 children and adults through our campfire style sing-a-long Circle of Song
We are extremely proud of all we've accomplished, but we absolutely couldn't do it without your support!

Please take a moment now to send a gift for our Annual Fund drive. These funds are vital to help meet the many operating expenses not covered by tuition from our programs.

Your generous contribution will help us grow and flourish in the year to come! Thank you very much for your consideration.

A donation to Sunflower on behalf of a friend or family member would make a lovely "green" --and meaningful--holiday gift!
