Imaginative & Big: Meet Uganda Rotary Water Plus
On Thursday, October 20th, in front of a packed hall of Rotarians, government officials, representatives of a number of NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations), and the media, Her Excellency the Minister of Water and Environment, Maria Mutagamba, formally launched the Uganda Rotary Water Plus (URWP) program.

Call for Volunteers: Technology Team.
Wasrag's Technology Team needs volunteers with technical expertise in water supply, water quality, sanitation, and health & hygiene. Over the next four to five months we're developing a web-based program to help Rotarians determine the most appropriate technologies to use for their WASH projects, using a system similar to the Consumer Reports model. It will have a simple graphic comparison chart, backed up by more detailed descriptions of technologies and how to select them. If you are interested, please contact the following:

Start Walking for Water - week of March 22, 2012
In the Netherlands Rotary clubs have had great fundraising success over the past 10 years with "Walking for Water International" from Aqua for All and Akvo. Children aged 10+ participate through schools and are supported by local Rotary clubs to walk, and raise money and awareness for clean water and sanitation. Looking for a WASH project to support?
A quick visit to Wasrag's www.startwithwater.org website will give you access to literally hundreds of projects that need help. New projects are being added on a regular basis.
In November one of the new projects was the Simbo Water Supply Rehabilitation Project. It's located in the Solomon Islands, one of the world's most remote spots. Although the area looks idylic, life there can be challenging. Read More...

Introducing D9140 Wasrag Regional Team Leader:
Chief (Rotarian) Noble Eshemitan joined Rotary in 1993, and is a career administrator and business man with a special interest in conflict resolution matters. Noble holds a BA (Hons.) in Accounting from the Univ. of Lagos, a MBA from the Univ. of Benin and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. Very active, Noble is a recipient of the Univ. of Lagos Alumni Association National Merit Award, several service awards from Rotary clubs and districts, community chieftaincy, several friendship and ethnic recognitions for conflict resolution services. Rotary District 9140 is located in southern Nigeria, and is home to approximately 90 Rotary Clubs. |

Kampala, Uganda hosted the 6th annual Rural Water Supply Network (RWSN) Forum Nov. 29 - Dec 1, 2011. The District Water Development officer from Mulanje District, Malawi, presented a short paper on the important benefits of working with district-level gov't.
