April Get Your PHX:
TreeHouse Bakery on Grand!!

Treehouse Bakery

The goal of Get Your PHX is to show up, en masse, to support those who pioneer new restaurants, stores, bars and event spaces. We want to provide them a boost as they put their sweat, tears and wealth on the line to make life great downtown. Plus, we want to provide a chance for you to meet others like you, who want to get the most out of Phoenix.

Special thanks to Lalo Cota, Pablo Luna and Breeze Marcus of Por Vida Gallery, Douglas Miles of =Apaceria= and the ever-wonderful Silvana Esparza of Barrio Cafe, who provided incredible food on short notice for our March Get Your PHX.

Please support Por Vida and Barrio. They are doing an incredible job on 16th St and we should support those who support our community!

On to the treats and sweets! In April we are going to swing back over to 15th Ave and Grand where Amanda and Corrianne Sizemore are launching the permanent Treehouse Bakery.

I say "permanent" because Amanda and Corrianne have been baking vegan goodies primarily for special orders and the Public Market events without a permanent location. But, the demand has grown to the point where they needed their own shop --primarily because their goodies actually taste, er, good! Unlike many vegan recipes, these baked goods stand up to the test.

Amanda and Corrianne started about two years ago when Corrianne just started baking for a vegan friend of hers. Before she knew it, she was filling special orders. In about nine months, they were selling to the public. But after pulling all nighters baking in a rent-a-kitchen due to high demand, it was time to expand.

That's "expand", with an "e" in a recession, with an "r".

The founders of Treehouse just wanted to create options for people in Phoenix.  So, now they just want to create a neighborhood sweet spot.

For those of you know know how My Florist Bakery got a start on 7th and McDowell in 2001 this kind of development will be a very positive thing for Grand Ave.

So, please come celebrate. This is what Get Your PHX is about. Support those who are taking a chance in downtown!

Keep an eye on our Facebook Fan Page for updates. As you know, there are always surprises.

In Summary

You saw this image last month, but I want to add a point.

 Shrinking Inventory

If you have been putting off a short sale in CenPho, now is the time to consider making a move. Three reasons: (1) Every nice house I see right now has multiple offers, with most above asking price. (2) Lenders are getting much faster at closing them and helping you to move on with your life. (3) As the economy improves, interest rates will go up and people's buying power will decrease.

Let me know if you have questions about short selling: 602-456-9388.

Why the Big Banks are No Good --Reason #346

Two of my transactions almost fall through in March --causing incredible headaches and turmoil for my clients and almost costing each of them almost a thousand dollars. Why? Because banks and credit unions can't seem to get deals closed. Who saved the deals? Jeannie Bolger with Nova Home Loans. If you are thinking of buying a home, this is required reading!

The owners of 90 West Virginia are issuing an aggressive price drop. The 1930s Fairhope School is recently renovated to a 4,100 square feet on 3/4 of an acre. This is the flagship property in the famous Historic Neighborhood.

Do You Know the "Broken Window Effect"?

When I moved to CenPho in 1998 we were dealing with this effect and now we are succeeding because of the work people did back then. Learn more here about what needs to be done to prevent a re-occurrence of crime in CenPho.

Where do You Recyle Your CFL Bulbs?

Did you even know that you need to recycle them? Did you know that tons of toxic heavy metals seep in to our ground water every year because people don't dispose of their batteries and CFL bulbs? Bookmark this page so you can refer to it the next time you want to recycle those old batteries and bulbs.
