 Good Luck
Jack's Chicago Marathon Team!

Each year,  Jack's Marathon Team overflows with stories of strength, passion and focus (SPF), brave individuals taking on the challenge for a number of inspiring reasons.

Too often we hear about another cancer diagnosis affecting family, friends or neighbors and don't know what to do or how to fight back.

Our marathoners connect closely with those who battle cancer and often are battling the disease themselves.

Running for a cause is their way of making a difference.  Please take a moment to read their personal stories and support their fundraising efforts.

We are so proud of each and every one of them and wish them great success as they take to the streets of Chicago on 10-09-11.

We will be there to cheer you on!

The 2011 Chicago Half Marathon was run on the memorable
tenth anniversary of 9-11 and a small but
mighty group of 6 runners  raised over $2000 in conjunction
with their half marathon effort.

We enjoyed meeting all of our runners including Mike Ripberger (NM),
Carrie Lewis (IL), Julia Lederhouse (IL) Maureen Soso (IL), Tom Johnsen (IL),
Tori Willis (IA) and special guest runner, Christine Guenther (PA)

Each year we ask our runners to share with us and each other what drew them to Jack's Team and what motivates them to run the marathon this year.  Here are a few of their stories.

Bridget Elliot Seng, Atlanta, GA

My own diagnosis with melanoma came when I was 20 years old. It was the summer before my Senior year at Notre Dame and I really only remembered two words from the phone call from the doctor's office that day. Cancer and surgery. I was scared and my family did their best to not be scared in front of me. That was 15 years ago. I am thankful every day for early detection and quick treatment. Last year I signed up to run my first 5k...

Justin Glancy, Huntington, IN

I am running the Chicago Marathon on October 9, 2011 in Memory of Steve Ochs. Steve passed away last November after battling Melanoma. To say that Steve Ochs had an impact on my life is an understatement. He was a true gentleman, a true friend and a great role model for all those he came in contact with. He was a true Marine and I loved him dearly...

Molly Brown, Ankorage AL and Katy Brown, Charlotte, NC

.. in honor and memory of our cousin Ted. Ted passed away on August 15, 2011, after a four-year battle with Stage IV Melanoma. He never backed down.  To know Ted was to love him. The same can be said for Ted's incredbile wife, Stacy. Ted also leaves behind three small children - Luke, Shannon and Samantha.
