Meet Jack's Marathon Teams!  

This year our Marathon program has exploded from 33 total runners in 2008 to 120 in 2009. 
 
These enthusiastic, dedicated athletes have run the Wisconsin, Boston, Rock 'n' Roll Chicago Half Marathon and now, the upcoming Chicago and New York City Marathons. 

The members of Jack's Team should be applauded for making a difference and finding inspiration by focusing on others.  By doing this, they become our inspiration.

In this newsletter you will have a chance to "meet" the Chicago and New York Teams. 
 
Each runner has joined Jack's Team for a reason, we hope you take time to read some of their stories.

We have a Feeling it's 26.2 ..."

Each of our runners has a personal story.  Why did they decide to run on Jack's Team?  Some know first hand the implications of being diagnosed with melanoma and its potential for harm.  There are others who have no personal connection to melanoma, but choose to raise funds and awareness for this cancer.

Our New York Team still has guaranteed entries available for this year's race on November 1, 2009.  But you must act quickly because they expire on September 15.

 For those who already have an entry, please consider joining us!  We ask you to raise funds as part of the team, but you set your own fundraising goal.

Free Skin Cancer Screenings.

Getting too much sun?  Endurance athletes are at high risk for melanoma.  While melanoma isn't the most common type of skin cancer, it is the deadliest and it is the fastest-growing cancer among people 18-29, according to the Women's Dermatological Society.  Learn how to protect yourself - stop by for a free private skin cancer screening by one of our volunteer dermatologists or to say hello and show support for the team.
  
The Bank of America Health & Fitness Expo annually hosts more than 175 exhibitors featuring the newest designs in running gear and shoes, as well as the latest developments in sports fitness and nutrition.

Join us again at the corner of Adams and Des Plaines to cheer for Jack's  Marathon Team. 
 
This is the halfway point of the marathon, so the team will be looking for our support as they tackle the next 13 miles.  Thank you to Old St Patrick's Church for their continued support and partnership with Jack's Fund.
