BOOT SCOOTIN' BIRTHDAY TEXASFEST 2008!
Mazon Associates, Inc. is a major sponsor for TexasFest, a Western-themed gala presented by the Irving Healthcare Foundation.  The event hosts more than 700 guests annually and this year it will be on Saturday, May 3rd.  Grammy award winning entertainer Steve Wariner will help everyone kick up their boots to celebrate the Irving Healthcare Foundation's 30th birthday.  Included in the event is a host bar, dinner buffet, casino games, armadillo races, dancing, and live and silent auctions. All of the proceeds from TexasFest 2008 are earmarked for the new Healthier Irving Endowment.  Investment earnings from this endowment in future years will be granted by the foundation's board to help meet our community's most critically important health needs.

A current project being funded by the foundation is assisting Baylor Medical Center at Irving with the purchase of digital mammography equipment for the hospital.  This project has touched home to the Mazon family because of Helma Mazon's recent battle with breast cancer.  Digital mammography equipment will detect breast cancer in its very early stages before it can spread to other areas of the body.  For more details on TexasFest, please visit www.irvinghealthcare.org.

FROM CLUTTER TO PROFIT . . . .
BabyPlays is the brain-child of Houston, Texas  entrepreneur, Lori Pope. Having infant twin sons in need of frequent changes of toys, she quickly saw the toy box overflowing and came up with the idea of renting toys to parents online, the same way people can rent movies, video games and even handbags online.  After researching her idea and getting feedback from potential customers, Lori launched her website www.babyplays.com in October 2007.  Parents can subscribe to her service  and select how many toys they would like each month. Customers build a wish list of toys they would like to rent, and Lori's staff ships them to their door. She started with 10 customers, shipping toys out of spare office space in her oilfield supply business; she now has over 200 customers nationwide and is preparing to move into a 3,000sf warehouse.  She has spent $250,000 of the money made from her other business to get the company off the ground, from buying toys and hiring employees to subletting office and storage space. She still puts about $12,000 a month into the company, and hopes to be turning a profit within six months.  Mazon Associates, Inc. wishes Lori much success in her business venture!

THOUGHTFUL THOUGHTS . . . .
"You may laugh out loud in the future at something you're eating your heart out over today." - Charles R. Swindoll

DID YOU HEAR . . . .

. . . about the woman who was arrested for stealing a can of sliced peaches?  She went before the judge and he said, "I will sentence you to one year in jail for every peach slice in the can."  He opened the can, counted the peaches and said, "Twelve slices. That will be 12 years behind bars!."

The husband considered the judge's ruling.  "Judge, is that correct?  Twelve years for a can of peaches?"  He replied, "That's right, 12 years."  The husband approached the bench and said, "Judge, I know for a fact that she also stole a can of peas!"
