 Hello ,
We've had a snowy winter here in the Northeast, which should make for a lush and very green spring!
It's the attitude I take with life, as well is with weather.
Yes, I can actually imagine a rainbow in the middle of the rainstorm...and this attitude meant I was also able to visualize a free program that could educate girls worldwide on the importance of breast self exam right while I was in the middle of my own breast cancer "challenge."
How do you see life and life's challenges?
Next time it's raining, try out my theory to see if it makes you feel better - I guarantee it will make those around you feel better.
Spring is on the way!
Hope Lives!

GITtin' Their Pink On

Thanks to J.R. Peters, Inc. for sponsoring a GIT Your Pink On Day, and also for being a Silver Sponsor of the Lehigh Valley Pretty In Pink Brunch. Not only did company employees wear custom pink tees to work, they also created a special PINK plant fertilizer sample just for the PIP Brunch attendees. Now THAT's support!

Pretty In Pink Goes to PA
Allentown, PA's Lehigh Country Club was rockin' on February 12! 170 attendees showed their support of GIT and honored Kristin Parks and Liz Cistone, recipients of the Women of Strength Award. Our PA friends raised $11,000, which means 11,000 Daisy Wheels for 11,000 girls!

Many thanks to the sponsors, and to Tracey Snyder Saab (GIT National Events Coordinator) and her team, for helping to make the Brunch such a success. And check out those yummy cupcakes: Sugar Babe Cupcakes "Pretty in Pink" cupcakes not only taste great, but every time one is sold, we benefit!

News from the Board
We're pleased to welcome two new members to our Board of Directors!
As part of our Events Committee, Claudine May will chair the auction at our 2011 Pretty in Pink Brunch in Milford, as well as develop an online auction community for a wider, national reach. Having a sister who is a breast cancer survivor and a daughter who is a Youth Ambassador for GIT, Claudine is a huge advocate of taking one's health into her own hands and in this case, literally. "The Get In Touch Foundation advocates for the youth, in teaching them the importance of knowing and understanding their bodies," says Claudine.
Sarah Nikkel is a former educator with experience in marketing and development. She joins the board's Development Committee in working to develop contacts at CT hospitals, medical centers, cancer centers and breast centers so we can begin to promote (and sell) our Daisy Wheels to them. (While schools receive them for free, we ask that other institutions pay for them to help defray our costs.) Long before she had a daughter, Sarah wanted to find a way to help girls accept, respect, and love themselves and their bodies. Like Paul Newman, she thinks that "in life we need to be a little like the farmer, who puts back into the soil what he takes out."
