Huron Valley Youth Athletic Association
Significant Organizational Change
Join Our Mailing List
Last night, the Board of Trustees of the Hi-White Youth Athletic Association unanimously approved a new Constitution and By Laws for the League.  For our members, this will mean a more efficient and stable organization for the league as well as an opportunity to participate in the running of the league.

The new Constitution provides an incentive for participation in the management of the league.  Children of members who actively participate in the running of the league will play for free in house ball or at a discount for travel ball.  Please see below for more details.

Also, the name of the league has changed from Hi-White Youth Athletic Association to Huron Valley Youth Athletic Association.  This name change better reflects the focus of our organization and will provide increased name recognition outside of Huron Valley.

Please see below for more information on the changes.

Thank you for your continued support of the Huron Valley Youth Athletic Association.

Regards,
Dave Gerathy

Directors and Officers Children Play for Free

Huron Valley baseball and softball has grown significantly in the last two years.  We have struggled in attracting new volunteers to help with the day to day management of the league.  In an effort to attract more volunteers to help in the operation of our growing league we have introduced a significant incentive to attract new volunteers.

Starting with the 2009 season, the children of Directors will play for free in house ball and/or will receive a credit, equivalent to the cost of house ball, towards travel expenses.  Directors will pay up front for their children's registration and will be reimbursed in September if they have successfully participated in the operation of the league.

There are no limits to the number of children whose expenses can be reimbursed.  For example, a Director with 4 children playing the league would be reimbursed for the expense of all 4 children.

Our new Constitution provides that Directors head a committee that is involved with an aspect of the league, such as (but not limited to):
  • Concession Stand Management
  • Field Management
  • Standings and Rankings
  • Parade and End of Season Picnic

Failure to to successfully complete the charter associated with a committee would mean removal from the Board of Directors and no refund for the expense of registration of children in the league.

New Fields for 2009

To accomodate the growth in our league, for the 2009 season Huron Valley will be adding two fields at White Lake Middle School in White Lake.  The addition of these two fields will allow for more efficient scheduling and better serve the community of White Lake.

Huron Valley will continue to seek additional fields thoughout Huron Valley for both house and travel play.
Tournament Teams

Huron Valley intends to affiliate with Pony Baseball and Softball for the 2009 season.  This affiliation will allow the league to form tournament teams for the older competitive house divisions which will continue play after the end of the season, with a path to a National World Series.

The best players in each division will form the tournament team and represent Huron Valley in tournament play.
2009 Registration

Registration for house ball will begin in December for the 2009 season.  Huron Valley is moving to a new online registatration system that will provide improved service to our members.  We are eliminating the online service fee for 2009.

Our goal for 2009 is to process 99%+ of our registrations online.  This will reduce data entry errors that affect team placement.

Huron Valley will send out a mass email announcing the opening of registration in December.
Travel Coaches Still Needed

Huron Valley is still seeking Travel Coaches for the following age groups:

Softball
U12
U10

Baseball
U14

This is the same organization in which our Colt teams participate.  This is a house ball program and as such, all players are welcome regardless of skill level.
