Mysteries & Secrets

Arnold

It's OK to retain a little mystery. We don't have to share our life stories with every stranger we meet. Once a mystery is solved, it no longer holds our attention. A little mystery is sexy.

Secrets are another matter. It's hard to retain a little mystery when you really have big secrets to hide and the exposure can have huge consequences for family, friends, career, and people who trust you to be responsible.

Considering how many people had to agree to keep quiet, it's amazing that Arnold Schwarzenegger was able to hide the fact that he fathered a child at least 10 years ago. The mother of the child worked in the Schwarzenegger family household and continued working there until she retired with severance pay and benefits a few months ago. Right there with his wife and kids. Proof that the truth is always more bizarre than anything we can make up.

Maria Shriver reached out to publicly ask other women what she should expect in the months and years ahead and how she should regain her footing. Now we know why. What would you tell her?

From flamenco dancer (wrists that twist, palms that slap a beat) to fish-cutter (hands in slimy slush at dawn), these women work their fingers to the bone.
