How to Wear White

When the temperature rises, white can at least keep you looking cool. It reflects light which is why it's a tropical favorite, and why sweating is less noticeable.
It's light reflecting properties make white less forgiving than darker colors. Here are 10 tricks on how to wear white flawlessly.
Watch where you put it. White can make you appear bigger (those light reflecting properties again!). For the most slimming look, wear it monochromatic (white on white, head to toe). If you wear white separates, wear the white on the smaller part of your body, or wear a loosely fitting style.
Watch how you wear it. If you're bottom heavy, for instance, buy white pants that skim your hips and thighs. The new wide leg styles are a perfect way for almost any body type to wear white pants successfully.
Don't expect forgiveness. White can be sharp and chic when it fits right. But a white garment that is too tight or too short can be cringe inducing.
Don't go all Matchy-Matchy with the shoes. Bold colored shoes are super partnered with white. Neutrals are great too; they blend in with your skin tone and create a longer leaner leg look.
White shoes are glaringly noticeable and they make your feet look bigger, if you must wear them, they're best with long white pants.
There are MANY shades of white. Pure optic white is unflattering on all but a few. Most people look better in ivory, eggshell, or oyster; tones of these colors can READ white but they have undertones of other colors that soften the optic effect and flatter the wearer.
