Fashion & Style for Spring 2011
|
Of all the fashion trends we've lived through, what we remember least fondly is the 80s. Someone save us from EVER having to relive big hair, huge shoulders, and Flashdance dressing. Maybe we should be glad that the 70s are back in fashion!!! |

If you lived through the first Woodstock, you'll recognize the Bohemian hippie-dippy vibe, and you probably won't care to deliberately dress like a new-age flower child. Unless you're a crusty, aging hipster and proud of it, pass on the tie dyed granny dresses and steer clear of macrame bikinis. |

| So what is new for us this season? A few important influences are new pants silhouettes, bold color, and stripes.
Pant styles are more polished with higher waists and wider legs. We won't have to look so hard to find styles that cover our assets, and the wider legs are going to make us look longer and leaner.
Stripes are everywhere. Coco Chanel built a style empire by borrowing from the boys. Stripes have come a long way in the decades since, but the stripe jerseys she lifted from war time sailors look as good as ever when worn with chic trousers or layered under cardigans and casual jackets.
Bold saturated color will be a major statement. Color will dominate every category of clothing and accessories. It will also be mixed in unexpected ways in stripes, prints and color blocking.
Since color is a big mood influencer, what we're wearing this season should at least lift our spirits while we're waiting for this stubborn recession to give way.
So many trends to talk about, so little space here! Get them all in our just-published 2011 Spring Trend Report. It's FREE, fresh, and customized for Flashionistas.

Stay tuned. In our regular emails we break down the trends by offering tips on how to wear them with style, confidence, and good health.
