The First 50 Years is a Learning Curve!

Over the last year we received questions about who we are and what we're doing. In celebration of the launch of our new web site, we decided to answer some of them here. It was an opportunity to re-evaluate what we're doing, so we can keep doing it better.

Q. Who are you?

A. We're Flashionistas. We motivate women over 45 to create a life of style and substance from the inside out. Think Sex and the Cityand fast forward 15 years. We're more concerned with how we live, than how we dress. We're still interested in looking good, our priorities have just shifted.

We still want health and happiness. And having lived through a painful recession, security,is on our wish list too.

Wealth has a different meaning now too. There's a richness associated with a life well lived that has nothing to do with money.

Q. What does Flashionista mean?

A. A Flashionista is simply a woman over 45 who loves style and fashion. Hot flashes and fashion are not mutually exclusive. Style is ageless.

Great style is more than a full closet. It's found in a life full of meaningful experiences, close family ties, true friends, and good health. If we feel good about ourselves, we're more likely to be engaged in creating a full energized life.

Q. How does a Flashionista define style?

A. "Style is more than the clothes on our backs. It's who we are and how we live our lives. It should be the best we can fashion for ourselves."

Q. What does Flashionista offer?

A.  It's a 'hotline' to our readers. Twice a week, we reach out to women with messages that deliver important information on creating change.

Q. Is it necessary to always be changing? Can't we just get into a groove we're comfortable in and relax?

Everything's a work in progress, including ourselves. When we stop making progress we start to gather dust.

We change our shoes, our hair, our wardrobe. Why not ourselves?

Q. What was the inspiration to launch Flashionista?

A.  "The first 50 years was the learning curve. Every success, failure, stroke of luck, lost love, and embarrassing moment, has been absorbed and processed. Modern boomers have lots of experience and lots of time to use it. Let's make the next 50 the best yet. "
