Asked by Anthony Derbyshire: "How many salespeople out there still cold call in person?."
Mike's Answer on LinkedIn: "Two comments:
1. Don't think of the "cold" in "cold call" to mean a cold lead that
isn't warmed up. Think of it as catching someone "cold". You finally
get that prospect on the phone and they aren't prepared for you. YOU
are in control of that call. Catch them Cold and Sell.
2. If a good sales person is able to build a relationship and work
the business issues through to a sale, then have your sales people do
just that. Unless your business can sell, pitch, and close on the
phone, then you should leave Cold Calling for the purposes of Lead Gen
up to the experts. There is a whole industry of outsourced Cold Calling
companies that can do the work for you. Once we find a prospect, then
your sales people can start selling.
