PRESS RELEASE: Farm Flood Relief Fundraiser on September 18 at Hamden Inn

HAMDEN, DELAWARE COUNTY --  A fundraiser to benefit Catskill farms damaged by recent flood events will take place on Sunday, September 18th from 4:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Hamden Inn, 35769 State Highway 10, Hamden.


Admission to the event is offered by donation, large or small.  Local musicians and writers will provide entertainment. Proceeds from the event's silent auction featuring local artwork and products will also benefit farmers.  Silent auction donations are still be accepted.  Please contact Morgan George of Sherman Hill Farmstead at target409@hotmail.com or (607) 829-6886 for more information.


Every dollar gathered at the fundraiser will be distributed to farm businesses in need.  A diverse review panel of local farmers will oversee the distribution of need-based funding awards.


The Watershed Agricultural Council is serving as the fiscal sponsor for the event. Those unable to attend the event, but looking to contribute to the farmer flood relief fund, may make a tax-deductible donate online at www.nycwatershed.org or mail checks made out to "WAC" to Attn: Farmer Flood Relief, 33195 State Highway 10, Walton, NY 13856.  Please designate donations to "farmer flood relief."
 

The purpose of the Watershed Agricultural Council is to protect both the rural, land-based economy of the watershed region and its drinking water quality for over nine million people. Working with farmers, agribusinesses, forest landowners, forest industry professionals and others, the Council seeks to enhance both business profitability and environmental stewardship. It also champions the use of conservation easements as an option to keep land within a working landscape context.
