COUNCIL WELCOMES EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR:  Craig Cashman of Chenango County has accepted the Council's leadership role, effective October 26. NATIONAL AUTHOR VISITS GLOBAL WATER CRISIS: On Monday, November 9, at 6:30 p.m., the Council is co-sponsoring a free lecture by Dr. Rober Glennon, author of "Unquenchable, America's Water Crisis and What to do About It." Dr. Glennon will appear in the Student/Community Lounge, Vanderlyn Hall, SUNY Ulster, Stone Ridge. For more information, contactl Carol Urban, (845) 688-2169. The Council partnered with Catskill Watershed Corp., Water Discovery Center, John Burroughs Science Lecture Series of SUNY Ulster and Rotary District 7210 International Water Projects.
 BOARD MEMBER, FARMERS HONORED: Over 250 farmers and their families met for a roast pork dinner at the 4th Annual Farmer Appreciation Dinner held at Maple Shade Farm, Delhi on October 2nd. "The Ag Picnic recognizes the dedication of our Agricultural Program participants and their land stewardship, water quality and working landscape efforts,"noted Board chairman Fred Huneke (pictured at right). He presented Gail Hillreigel of Regal Hill Farm (at left) with an honorarium for her 13 years of service as a Council board member and officer.
Over 90 families enjoyed the festivities at Maple Shade Farm such as the corn maze, children's games, historical exhibits and music by the Tremperskill Boys. The Hay Fort was a big hit with the kids (and a few adults) like Gracie Deysenroth of Bloomville. |
THE FARMER-EDUCATOR: The August Catskill Mountain Region Guide features Frost Valley Farm Camp Director John Chartier; Frost Valley Farm Camp is an Agricultural Program participant since 1999. The Council highlights farm and forest businesses each month in The Dirt Path.
 WOOD PRODUCERS AT BETHEL WOODS: Catskill WoodNet members showcased their talents at the Bethel Woods Rustic for Home Show in October. Events like this, the New Amsterdam Market and holiday venues help place our regional craftsmen, producers and farmers in the public eye.
