PRESS RELEASE: HOOF HEALTH COURSE OFFERED AT HAMDEN TOWN HALL ON JULY 14
Watershed Agricultural Council and Cornell Cooperative Extension host free dairy cattle workshop.
Pre-register by July 10.
HAMDEN, NY -- An educational program on hoof health will be held at the Hamden Town Hall on Tuesday, July 14, from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. The workshop is part of a Dairy education series sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Delaware County and the Watershed Agricultural Council.

Featured speakers include Kathy Finnerty, the New York State Cattle Health Assurance Program (NYSCHAP) Coordinator, and Dr. Paul Virkler from the Animal Health Diagnostic Center at Cornell University. Kathy Finnerty will discuss how becoming a participant of the NYSCHAP can improve herd health and overall farm profitability. Dr. Virkler will discuss ways to detect, prevent, and treat common hoof health problems. The discussion will focus on the following topics: overview of NYSCHAP program, hoof health and function, laminitis, and locomotion scoring.
