Catskill Center for Conservation and Development

The first in a series of gardening workshops, this event provides details on starting a garden. Read more about the event here and the instructor, Melody Newcombe, here.
 
Topics will include:
  • Starting a successful garden
  • Ordering seeds (including placing an order that day!)
  • Starting seeds in your home
  • Composting with a worm bin

Catskill Regional Dairy, Livestock and
Grazing Conference
January 15, 10 am to 3:30 pm
Evenden Tower, SUNY Delhi
Delhi, NY

$15 for Pure Catskills, CCE and WAC participants
$20 for non-member-participants
Local lunch served at noon

Dairy farmers, livestock producers and those "on the fence" about starting a farm business will find motivation, information and camaraderie in Delaware County early next year.

Three separate tracks with workshop topics including:
  • Dairy:  cow comfort, animal well-being, high-moisture corn production, raising productive dairy calves
  • Diversified Livestock:  marketing beef, pastured pork and poultry and grass-finishing
  • Grazing: watering system management, pasture renovation and improvement, stocking rates
