Catskill Regional Dairy, Livestock and
Grazing Conference
January 15th, 2009

Local lunch served at noon

Dairy farmers, livestock producers and those "on the fence" about starting a farm business will find motivation, information and camaraderie in Delaware County early next year.

Three separate tracks with workshop topics including:
  • Dairy:  cow comfort, animal well-being, high-moisture corn production, raising productive dairy calves
  • Diversified Livestock:  marketing beef, pastured pork and poultry and grass-finishing
  • Grazing: watering system management, pasture renovation and improvement, stocking rates

The New York State Cheesemakers Guild brings you a hands-on course suitable for the cheesemaker from novice to intermediate.  The full-day event will include working with cow and goat milk. 

Topics include:
  • Sanitation best practices
  • Required equipment and resources
  • Use of cultures
  • Preparation for several varieties of cheese with instruction provided by experienced cheese makers familiar with "small batch" processing

Scholarships Available!

Attention members!  Pure Catskills is offering four full scholarships to the 2009 Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York (NOFA-NY) Conference.  This opportunity includes conference registration fees, meals and hotel accomodations.  Check out the 80+ workshops and full details here.  The event is January 23rd to 25th in Rochester, NY.
