Midtown Citizens on Patrol Wins City Grant

Midtown's Citizens on Patrol groups has received a grant from the Mayor's Office on Criminal Justice to support these grass-root efforts to make our neighborhoods safer.  The funds will allow us to buy flashlights, safety vests and other equipment.  Midtown is currently coordinating several walker groups in Mount Vernon, Madison Park and Bolton Hill.  The patrols are often enhanced by use of Midtown's Segway personal vehicles.  Volunteers who wish to be trained to patrol on a Segway may email our Volunteer Maryland Coordinator, Jovonne Lewis at volunteer@midtowncommunity.org or call 410 528-1512, extension 217.

Crime has been on the decline throughout the Midtown communities. Our public safety committee under the chairmanship of Michael Molla will soon be holding an open evening meeting to solicit ideas and concerns from Midtown residents.

Bolton Hill Garden Club June Garden Walk and Fountain Celebration

The Bolton Hill Garden Club will host its annual Garden Walk on Sunday, June 28.  It will be followed by a reception to celebrate the installation of the new fountain and gardens in the 1800 block of Eutaw Place.   The Garden Walk will showcase 10 Bolton Hill gardens and public spaces.  This is a rare public opportunity to view the hidden treasures and secret gardens that inhabit Bolton Hill, as well as enjoy the architectural treasures that abound throughout the neighborhood.

The new fountain is to be honored as an addition to these treasures and a commemoration of the hard work and dedication of the neighbors and Garden Club members who's worked to make its installation a reality.   The Garden Walk and Fountain Celebration will be held rain or shine, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., starting at Fitzgerald Park, which is located in the 1600 block of Bolton Street (at the corner of Wilson and Bolton Streets).  A reception will follow in the median of the 1800 block of Eutaw Place from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Tickets are $10, and benefit the Garden Club's greening efforts in Bolton Hill.  Tickets can be purchased at the time of the walk at Fitzgerald Park.
