HELP GREEN MIDTOWN
Volunteers Wanted!
With flowers beginning to pop open, we know its Spring!  The Midtown Community Benefits District works with a variety of neighborhood groups to keep our community clean and green.  One of our ongoing projects has been the cleaning, planting and mulching of tree pits.  Teams of volunteers will be enhancing our tree bases on weekends in April.  Contact Shie'ree Saunders, Midtown's volunteer coordinator, 410 528-1512, volunteer@midtowncommunity.org to join us and help green our environment!

Saturday, March 29th Event

Broom It is time for a Spring Cleaning in Baltimore! On Saturday morning, March 29th, communities in four distant parts of Baltimore neighborhoods will come together to sweep the sidewalks towards the center of Baltimore in a parade complete with a local Marching Band. The parade will meet at 10:30 am at the corners of 25th Street and Charles Street, Mosher and Druid Hill Avenue, Madison and Washington Street, Pratt and Charles Street, in front of the Convention Center. There will be coffee provided by Zekes's Coffee and at 11am the parades will begin to move towards Mt. Vernon Place.

The parade is expected to end at 1:00pm in the Mount vernon Square south park near the Walters Art Museum. The Maryland Institute College of Art's exhibition Beyond the Compass, Beyond the Square will be having an opening reception in the parks from 1 until 4pm.

Brooms will be provided by the City's Initiative for a Cleaner Greener Baltimore. Other equipment will provided by the Charles Village Benefits District and the Midtown Benefits District.

Everyone is invited to participate. We are encouraging participants to make costumes, banners, or decorative brooms to wear or carry in the parade.

This is a chance to represent your community before the rest of Baltimore.

On March 29th come and meet your neighbors to walk and sweep together at 10:30am.

All participants will receive a free pass to the very special MAPS exhibit at the Walters.

If you would like to volunteer or have questions contact Jonathan Taube, jtaube@mica.edu
