Description: This Powerpoint presentation takes a new look at the passages of the Bible that are traditionally used to condemn same-sex love and concludes that the Bible does not condemn same-sex love -- or homosexuality -- as we understand it today. The presentation is a digest of the writings of several Bible scholars on the topic and is skillfully and artfully presented in Powerpoint format.
Complimentary copies of the book The Children Are Free: Reexamining the Biblical Evidence on Same-sex Relationships by Rev. Jeff Miner and John Tyler Connoley will be given out (as supply lasts).
Study guide notes (with bibliography) which follow the Powerpoint presentation will be provided.
Bangkok Seminar Presenter Rev. Steve Parelli, MDiv.
Rev. Parelli lives in the Bronx, New York, with his life partner Mr. Jose Ortiz who is a guidance counselor in the public schools of New York City. Parelli and Ortiz met in 1997 at an "ex-gay" support group. Both are from an evangelical background. Ortiz did his undergrad work in theology and Bible; his grad work in Applied Psychology (NYU). Parelli holds a ThB and MDiv. degree. For some time, Parelli served as an ordained minister in the Baptist denomination. He was recently ordained MCC (Metropolitan Community Churches) clergy.
Last August, 2008, Parelli and Ortiz were married in California, USA.
