From 3PM - 5PM today, Rev. Steve Parelli and Jose Ortiz will speak at Martin Chauturi on the topic "Two Gay Christian Ministers Analyze How the Christian Faith does not Chnage one's Sexual Orientation." The general public is invited.
Individuals from three different human rights group spoke to the pastors. Three lesbians from Mitini Nepal shared their stories; one transgender and one young gay man from Blue Diamond Society spoke; and one straight ally from Protection Desk Nepal spoke. Some of these who spoke to the pastors declared themselves to be Christian and spoke on the importance of the need for Christian pastors and lay leaders to understand the issues and concerns of LGBTI people of Nepal. It was reported by attendees that this was the first occasion in the LGBTI history of Nepal that Christian pastors were publically hearing the stories of LGBTI Nepali people of faith.
