Dear Other Sheep Friend,

I'm writing to you from Vienna, Austria, where I am attending the ILGA (International Lesbian and Gay Association) 24th World Conference.  I am networking here for Other Sheep and distributing literature.  From here, I join Rev. Michael Kimindu of Nairobi, Kenya, in Birmingham, England, where we will each present a workshop at the MCC (Metropolitan Community Churches) Region 4 Conference.

Before returning to Kenya, Rev. Kimindu will travel to Manchester where he will have an additional opportunity to speak on November 10.  See the article that follows for more information on this event.

Sincerely,
Steve Parelli, MDiv

Rev. Kimindu to speak at Manchester Cathedral
by Henry Mayor, written Oct. 31, 2008

Date, Place and Time
The Manchester Theological Society and Changing Attitude (Manchester Diocese) has invited its constituency and interested persons to meet and discuss with the Reverend Michael Kimindu from Nairobi on Monday, November 10, from 6:30-8:30 pm at the Manchester Cathedral.

Kimindu's Pro-LGBT ministry in Kenya
Michael is a senior priest in the Anglican Church of Kenya, resident in the Archbishop of Kenya's diocese of All Saints. For some years he's had an affirming ministry to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Kenyans. The Kenyan church official position, like most Anglican provinces of Equatorial Africa, is that the Scripture condemns all forms of homosexual behavior. His Archbishop has refused Michael a stipend, and an effort was made to exclude him from his clergy chapter.

Michael has linked with an LGBT-affirming Kenyan Methodist minister, Rev. John Makokha, to form "Other Sheep East Africa" as a Christian network for affirming LGBT people and promoting discussion of gay issues.  They are supported in this by the gay-affirming Christian group Other Sheep and the Metropolitan Community Church (Europe and Africa).

Kimindu's involvement at Lambeth 2008
This year Changing Attitude and Integrity USA were responsible for inviting Michael to be part of the Inclusive Church Network at the Lambeth Conference, where he spoke at a fringe meeting and wrote in the daily "Lambeth Witness" newsletter.

You can read more information about Michael and the people he worked with at Lambeth on the Changing Attitude website.

Kimindu speaking at MCC Conference
He's been invited to the UK again, to the Metropolitan Community Church Region 4 conference in Birmingham, and afterwards he'll be my guest from Sunday, November the 9th, to Wednesday, November the 12th.

Changing Attitude and Other Sheep Directors to Attend November 10 Meeting
Colin Coward, Director of Changing Attitude (UK), and Steve Parelli, Executive Director of Other Sheep, expect to be present at the November 10th meeting.

Other Sheep ministries ask for Donation of Books, DVDs and a Computer for Kimindu
Steve Parelli is asking individuals to donate to Rev. Kimindu, during his visit to England, LGBT resource materials such as books on gay theology and other LGBT topics.  Also, Parelli has asked that donations of DVD gay movies (religious and non-religious) be donated for use among the gay community in Nairobi.  Parelli, on behalf of Other Sheep ministries, will present to Rev. Kimindu the award winning DVD "for the Bible tells me so."

In addition, Steve Parelli has noted that Rev. Kimindu is in need of a computer for his personal use in ministry and is asking if anyone has a used computer in excellent condition that is no longer being used and could be donated to Rev. Kimindu during his visit.  If you can help in any way with a computer, please contact me, Henry Mayor, on 0161 434 2955 or [email protected].

An Offering will be taken
An offering will be taken for Rev. Kimindu at the November 10th meeting.
