Register Now for SyracuseCoE's 12th Annual Symposium 

 

Registration is now open for SyracuseCoE's 12th Annual Symposium. The symposium will take place October 10th through October 12th 2012. The 12th annual Symposium on Environmental and Energy Systems organized by SyracuseCoE features the latest results from collaborators across New York State that are developing innovations in clean technologies and processes, including indoor environmental quality, clean and renewable energy, and water resources. 

This year's Symposium will feature a kick-off presentation by Bill McKibben(click here for bio) at Hendricks Chapel, keynote speakers, such as Catherine Tumber author of Small, Gritty, and Green , as well as sessions and workshops designed to engage a wide audience, including industry practitioners, state and local officials, and university faculty and students.

SyracuseCoE to Host R&T Forum September 11th

 

On September 11th, SyracuseCoE will host another lecture in its R&T Forum series on Combined Heating and Power Technologies. The forum will feature presentations from Mike Kelleher, Director of Renewable Energy Services at SUNY ESF, John Moynihan, CHP innovator in the local area, and Edward Kear of NYSERDA. Hugh Henderson of CDH Energy will moderate. 

 

The forum begins at 3:30 pm with a networking reception afterwards. Please RSVP by September 10th to Stacy Bunce at sbunce@syr.edu

Postdoctoral Scholars Sought: Indoor Environmental Quality

 

Up to four postdoctoral scholar appointments are available for a joint new research program between the University of California Berkeley (UCB), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), and the National University of Singapore (NUS). The successful candidates will join a team of researchers funded for 5 years by Singapore's National Research Foundation. The overall research program aims to create knowledge to improve energy efficiency and sustainability in buildings in tropical climates.

 

Applications are being reviewed as received with an interest in early appointment. Intended start date should be no later than January 2013.

SyracuseCoE Hosts Advanced Building Track at Advanced Energy 2012 in NYC

 

SyracuseCoE will host an Advanced Building track at the Advanced Energy 2012 conference in NYC on October 30th and 31st. Speakers include USGBC President, CEO and Founding Chair - and SyracuseCoE Advisory Board member - Rick Fedrizzi, who will participate in a panel discussion on "The Retrofit Revolution: Energy efficiency & occupant well-being." 

 
Advanced Energy 2012New York State's largest advanced energy event, is expected to attract thousands of participants from industry, government and academia, along with innovators and leaders from every area of energy research. An exciting line-up of invited speakers will be in attendance.

Green Apple Day of Service

 

On Sept. 29, 2012, the Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council will host the first annual Green Apple Day of Service.  For one day, or any day leading up to Sept. 29, advocates from around the world, including students, teachers, parents and elected officials, as well as international green building councils, USGBC staff, chapters, member companies and more, will come together in support of healthy, sustainable schools by taking action in their communities.  Our vast network of champions will demonstrate the strength and breadth of our movement, leaving a meaningful and lasting local impact.
