*Last Minute Planner* SyracuseCoE to Host Research and Technology Forums
SyracuseCoE will host a new series of research and technology forums to highlight cutting edge research by academic and industry leaders as well as the latest market drivers and trends. Each forum will feature a variety of presentations from academic and industry authorities. Listed below is a schedule of this year's upcoming forums.

EFC to Host Conference: "Growing Green Infrastructure in New York", Nov. 16-17
On Nov. 16 and 17, the Environmental Finance Center at the SyracuseCoE Center for Sustainable Community Solutions and SUNY ESF Outreach will host its annual conference, "Growing Green Infrastructure in New York." Highlights of this year's event include:
- iTree training session hosted by ESF Outreach at King & King Architects. iTree is a U.S. Forest Service software for urban forestry, ecosystem services and green infrastructure. Among other things, attendees will learn how to quantify the environmental services trees provide in the urban forest and will better understand the roles of trees as they relate to local communities.
- Growing Green Infrastructure in New York Symposium at the SU Sheraton. This event features focused discussion and gathering of leaders, professionals, researchers, and others who wish to learn more about advances in green infrastructure and connections to workforce development, community vitality and Smart Growth principles.

Certificate in Sustainable Enterprise Available to all SU, SUNY-ESF Graduate Students
The Sustainable Enterprise Partnership (SEP), in partnership with SyracuseCoE, recently announced the availability of an advanced credential in sustainability to all Syracuse University (SU) and SUNY ESF graduate students. Developed through a cross-institutional collaboration, the Certificate of Advanced Study in Sustainable Enterprise (CASSE) integrates business, science, engineering, policy and practice, and emphasizes transdisciplinary collaboration. The CASSE curriculum is delivered by expert faculty and researchers from the Whitman School of Management, SUNY ESF, the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science, SyracuseCoE and other leading sustainable enterprise authorities. For details, click here.

Clarkson U. Anounces New Alliance with Beacon Institute
Beacon Institute for Rivers and Estuaries and Clarkson University, a SyracuseCoE Platinum Partner, recently announced that they have expanded their education and operational partnership in order to advance commercialization of emerging river monitoring sensor technology, new academic programs and long-term public policy solutions to protect waterways. A union between Beacon Institute for Rivers and Estuaries and Clarkson University will provide significant environmental and economic benefits to New York State and will establish New York as a leader in research and education for water innovation. Air Innovations Chairman Named Engineer of the Year
Lawrence E. Wetzel, PE, chairman of the board of SyracuseCoE Silver Partner Air Innovations Inc., is the recipient of the HPAC (Heating/Piping/Air Conditioning) Engineering magazine's "Engineer of the Year" award. The Engineer of the Year award honors a mechanical or professional engineer engaged in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration (HVAC/R) or building automation who has made significant contributions to his/her company and customers, the HVAC/R industry, and his/her community. Wetzel was honored at a ceremony in Indianapolis, IN. Wetzel is a licensed professional engineer (P.E.) in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and California, and holds contractors' licenses in those states as well as Florida and Virginia. $200,000 Available in Creative Core's Emerging Business Competition
Creative Core recently announced a new round of the Emerging Business Competition. The competition will run in three categories: Emerging Business, Innovations in Agri-Business, and the Business Idea competition. The 1st place winner in the Emerging Business category will win $200,000. The Business Idea competition will award one talented high school or college student a $5,000 cash prize for a great business idea essay. The deadline for submission is January 20 at 5 p.m. Participation in the competition is limited to individuals or entry teams from the Central Upstate New York region. For details, click here.

$100,000 Offered for Raymond von Dran IDEA Awards
The Raymond von Dran (RvD) IDEA (Innovation & Disruptive Entrepreneurship Accelerator) Awards will offer more than $100,000 in seed funding to college and university student entrepreneurs to start for-profit or non-profit ventures in Central New York. The RvD Awards is the largest start-up funding competition for New York State student entrepreneurs. This year extra funding is available for ideas and ventures in the green/ sustainability categories. The RvD Awards will take place on March 30, 2012. Applications are due March 1.
