O'Brien & Gere to Commercialize Air Pollution Control Technology
SyracuseCoE Platinum Partner O'Brien & Gere has announced it will commercialize air pollution control technology that reduces emissions from coal-fired power plants. "The decision follows 22 successful demonstrations of the company's air pollution control technology on coal-fired power plants and 20,000 hours of run time," says Jon Norman, Director of Technology Development. "After three years in development and demonstration of the company's proprietary technology, we are now in a strong position to fully commercialize and market this technology on a greater scale." The technology will be marketed under the DI-Technology product line and manufactured by O'Brien & Gere of North America, a wholly owned product division of O'Brien & Gere. SyracuseCoE Team Recieves Enitiative Grant for Green Jobs Project
SyracuseCoE's Assistant Director of Operations Dr. Lisa Cleckner and Hanah Ehrenreich of CNY Works have been awarded an Enitiative grant to provide green workforce development training. This project will provide opportunities for students, contractors, business owners, and other professionals to obtain accreditation as green building professionals. Enitiative funds will offset training and exam costs for the US Green Building Council's Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design so that individuals can become LEED accredited professionals. Enitiative is Syracuse University's Entrepreneurship Initiative. Its latest funded projects are part of a $3 million, five-year grant awarded to Syracuse University by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation of Kansas City, MO, as part of its Kauffman Campuses initiative. The Foundation's vision is to foster a society of economically independent individuals who are engaged citizens, contributing to the improvement of their communities. SyracuseCoE Members Morrisville State College, SUNY-ESF, and the Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce also received grants.  For a full list of recipients click here.
