Custom gowns that are ordered to your measurements can take 6-9 months to arrive from the designer/manufacturer.
A reputable dealer will offer a contract with specifics listed: price paid; terms of payment; the designer and style of the dress; estimated arrival time at the salon.
Many salons offer payment plans or significant discounts to brides who pay up-front. Many offer fifty-percent down, with 50-percent due on delivery. Others may offer a payment plan.
Saving Money on Your Dream Gown:
Buy an off-the-rack or sample gown.
Restore an heirloom gown.
Find a simple satin or polyester gown and add your own embellishments.

Although shopping for your dream gown can be stressful, it's important to always remember what the day is really about, and to have fun with shopping!

Lighten Up
Often when couples have gone through or are going through some bumpy spots in their relationship, things tend to get serious. It could be that there is a tremendous amount of tension or perhaps they are not sure what to say. Regardless of the reason, learn to lighten up. Do not take every comment, glance, or movement as a serious problem. If your mate makes a mistake, which you both will, let it go, or if appropriate, laugh about it. If you make a mistake, do not be afraid to poke fun at yourself. This will automatically start the process of tension breaking.
