Q&A with 99 Bottles
Q: I see you're offering growlers. Can I bring in an empty for you to fill?
A: We are offering growlers that are filled at the brewery; currently these include growlers from Schooner EXACT Brewing and Fremont Brewing. Both breweries have obtained Federal approval on their growler labeling and are, thus, able to offer them via retail chains according to the Washington State Liquor Control Board. We accept only those growlers in return for the deposit return.
In Washington State, to offer growler fills the retail establishment must be licensed as a Brewery or Tavern. As 99 Bottles is licensed as a Specialty Beer Store, we are unable to fill growlers for you.
Q: Can I bring my friends to your store for a private beer tasting?
A: Sorry, no. The Washington State Liquor Board mandates that all events held at our business be open to all who enter and only be held during posted business hours.
However, if you'd like to host a private tasting in your house, Tiffany is more than happy to help prepare you to host it yourself. Just ask for guidance. She's helped many folks with beer selection, offered tips on tasting order and snacks to serve.
Or, bring your group to one of our scheduled events. As most are there to taste the beer & visit with the special guest, if you're visiting with friends be sure to step aside and let others up to the counter for their pours. Cheers!
Q: I see that 99 Bottles Club members no longer receive special tasting fees. Why is that?
A: It is true, tiered tasting prices have ceased due to WSLCB advice. But we're working on other great ways for 99 Bottles Club members to save. Club members, watch for CLUB MAIL that'll detail these new deals in the upcoming month.

Hop Henge Experimental IPA is released seasonally from Deschutes Brewing of Ore. This IPA has a huge fan base who look forward to its annual return! Several pounds of Centennial & Cascade hops are in each barrel with a heavy dry-hop presence to top it off. A blend of crystal, pale and caraston malts create a biscuity character that is dense and muscular, building the alcohol base to support the monstrous hop profile. 95 IBU ¦ 9% ABV
Cowboy Coffee Porter, a light and somewhat creamy beer with notes of coffee and chocolate. Rotating Release from Montana's Big Sky Brewing.
Mud Slinger is a nut brown ale with a fresh malty aroma and flavors of light chocolate, caramel, brown sugar and a hint of vanilla. Pair this Spring Release beer with grilled meats, stews, and even smoked oysters or salmon. 31 IBU ¦ 5.8% ABV
Big imperial stouts originated in England and were shipped to Russian Czarists, this is where the beer style "Russian Imperial Stout" originated. Each year the Widmer Bros. take on a new style, and the W'11 KGB certainly shouldn't disappoint lovers of BIG Russian Imperial Stouts or any remaining members of the KGB. This beer has a light-to-moderate body, with a huge roasty profile. Not for your faint-of-heart stout drinkers. It's got a deep char roast with a coating bite and a dryness. 99% on RateBeer; B rating on BeerAdvocate. 9.25% ABV

Bad Monkey, a winter release from Yakima Craft Brewing Co., is a spicy, dark, strong Belgian-style ale intended to keep you warm on cold nights. (And it kinda smells like Juicy Fruit gum.) 32 IBU ¦ 8.1% ABV
Portland Roast Espresso Stout is a collaboration between Laurelwood Brewing and Portland Roasting, a fantastic local coffee producer. The beer features a blend of hand-selected Ethiopian and Sumatran coffees. Spring Seasonal. 6.3% ABV Of Salva Vida, a world traveler on theBackpacker.net says, "The only time I get to have a Salva Vida is when I go too Honduras... boy, I wish I could have one right now!!! ...or 3 cases of it... great beer! Someone tell me how to get it here..." Well, it's available now in Washington at 99 Bottles. We here it's a great refreshing lager and is a great option for folks who normally drink Bud Light. 4.8% ABV. A standard in Honduras since 1916.
Fremont growlers are available at 99 Bottles! Yes, you read that right: GROWLERS!! How it works: You pay a deposit for the jug + a fee for the beer. When you bring back the empty jug, you either get the deposit refunded in cash or can apply it to your next purchase. If you apply it toward another growler, you just pay for the beer. Cool, eh? (We also have 33oz growler jugs from Schooner EXACT.) I'm particularly excited about being able to share Fremont's Interurban IPA & Abominable Winter Ale as I've enjoyed both at beer festivals and as draft-only products, that meant I could only get 'em in kegs, at festivals, or taverns. But that's no longer true. You can now get 'em at 99 Bottles too! The 64oz jugs are perfect for football parties.
