Happy Thanksgiving!
The holiday is just around the corner. Will you be serving beer? As you've guessed, our Thanksgiving table is graced with beer. While I'm still choosing our specific beers, you may find my notes helpful for your table--
Apertif
Start with a pale lager or ale as a means to whet the palate with the table of appetizers. The hors d'ouvres on our family's table ranges from cheese and crackers, to shrimp-stuffed mushrooms and light salads. Aim for a beer with a lower alcohol beer and a refreshing palate, such as a German or Czech-style Pilsner, or even a crisp extra pale ale. For salads with vinegar-based dressings, consider a tart gueuze-style beer.
Main Course Choose a beer that compliments the roast turkey, such as an English brown ale, caramelly doppelbock, toasty amber ale, a light and refreshing kolsch, or a slightly sweet golden Belgian-style Tripel. For the nontraditionalist serving ham, pair the ham slices with a weizenbock, Belgian-style Dubbel, or a dark lager. And if you're serving smoked turkey, go for a porter or Scotch-style ale. For the daring, consider an option of pairing your turkey with a pumpkin or yam ale.
Dessert Pie, pie, me-oh-my! Forget the coffee. Serve a coffee beer! Or a rich, robust stout with flavors of bittersweet chocolate. Stouts and deep porters pair great with all kinds of desserts, especially pie.
Have a special holiday, and cheers to you and your loved ones!

Got a hankering to try a new beer? Try a new beer from a Washington brewery-- three beers from Ice Harbor Brewing of Tri-Cities just arrived: India Winter Ale (IWA), India Pale Ale (IPA) and Hop Warrior.
Flying Dog K-9 Cruiser is a winter ale with sweet malty flavors of cocoa, caramel and nuts, balanced with piney hops.
Marston's Pedigree is a traditional English-style bitter, with toffee malts and tea-like hops. Mendocino Imperial Barley Wine is imperial indeed at 11% ABV and a full, robust body. Try a bottle now and lay some down in your beer cellar for the development of subtle flavors of dark fruit, sherry and anise. With age, the hop flavors and aromas will become more rounded and the luscious caramel malt notes will become more intense. Just give it time. Double Bastard Ale from Stone Brewing Co. Will you become what you drink if you drink 3 liters of Double Bastard?? We have just 3 giant bottles available. Or stock up on 22-oz bombers of this once-a-year release. In stock now. Also a few Double Bastard glasses remain. Firestone Walker 14 is a blend of six barrel-aged beers in celebration of Firestone Walker's 14th Anniversary; two bottle per person limit. Bottles are expected to arrive on Thursday, 11/18 -- watch our facebook page or twitter feed for arrival announcement. Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary Our Brewers Reserve Grand Cru is oak-aged Bigfoot, Celebration and Pale Ale blended and dry-hopped. Learn more about the 30th series at www.sierra30.com. Uinta Tilted Smile Imperial Pilsner is crisp, big in alcohol at 9%, yet approachable and pairs well with grilled meat and seafood. Another high-ABV beer from Utah's Uinta Brewing is Detour Double IPA, which uses four varieties of hops to tease the tastebuds. Pair the DIPA with spicy ethnic foods to fully enjoy its hoppy character and drying finish. Olde School Barleywine, 2010 vintage from Dogfish Head Craft Brewery. Drink it young or follow the instructions on the side of the bottle and bury it in your yard to age it for a year. Another release from Dogfish is Namaste. This Belgian-style wit was made with dried organic orange slices, fresh-cut lemongrass, and a bit of coriander. It was brewed as a tribute to DFH friends at 3 Fonteinen brewery in Belgium, who recently had devastating production loss. (1/3 of their annual production!) Hoss is based on the Marzen lagers of Germany. Great Divide Brewing layered malts and rye to achieve an earthy, spicy, crisp, dry lager, with notes of cherry. Upright "Punk Rock" Lager is an incredibly heady imperial lager with a snappy hop bite. Brewed once; limited availability.

Holiday Seasonals
Frambozen is the limited winter seasonal from New Belgium Brewing. It's a smooth brown ale enhanced with Washington grown raspberries. Laurelwood Vinter Varmer is rich, complex with a blend of six malts and four hops. Try this spicy, roasty, deeply caramel ale and another winter warmer for $1 at this week's WEEKLY PICK, pouring 4-8PM on Wednesday, 11/17. Midnight Sun TREAT Imperial Chocolate Pumpkin Porter is the final pumpkin beer to arrive in the fall season, and it's like the grand finale! This beer tastes like chocolate pumpkin bread ...yum! 8 bottle limit. Trumpeter Imperial Stout from Skagit River Brewing is back! We look forward to the return of this winter seasonal each year. Trumpeter is a huge beer, with layers of smoke, chocolate, roast, caramel, jet fuel, motor oil and hops. Achouffe N'Ice is a dark brown, fruity, lightly hoppy sparkling strong Christmas Ale from Belgium. And it scores 99% on RateBeer.com. Gouden Carolus Noel is a seriously heavy strong Belgian brown ale perfectly spiced for the holidays. 99% on RateBeer.com Jewbelation 14 is 'all about hands, hearts and farts' being still very much an adolescent of a brewery. 14 malts, 14 hops, 14% ABV. It's rich, creamy, dark, and incredibly complex. Let this boozy brewed once ale warm you up this winter. Sierra Nevada Celebration is fresh-hopped this year. Leinenkugel's Fireside Nut Brown Ale smells of maple syrup and has flavors of chocolate, caramel and hazelnuts. " Avec les Bons Voeux" means best wishes, which is what Brasserie Dupont sends to you from Belgium. This special saison is aromatic, velvety and is brewed just for the holidays. Pair it with roast turkey. 100% for the style, RateBer.com Scaldis Noel is a beer with a sweet profile of caramelized sugar, earthy sweetbread, plump raisins and holiday spices. Serve it after dinner. 12% ABV Rogue Yellow Snow IPA and Santa's Private Reserve are also in.
99 Bottles also received a limited supply of Mikkeller Santa's Little Helper, 2009 Vintage.
