THE GREAT PUMPKIN & DARK O THE MOON These beers are hard to find outside the brewery, and bottles around the Sound are very limited. These highly sought-after seasonal beers arrived at 99 Bottles yesterday afternoon, so don't delay or you'll most likely miss out.
The Great Pumpkin is the nearest to beer to real pumpkin pie that we've ever tasted, and Dark O The Moon is a pumpkin stout...similar in flavor to chocolate pumpkin bread. Limit 2 bottles per person, while they last.
And if you happen to miss these beers, be sure to check out this pumpkin beer event--

TACOMA CRAFT BEER FESTIVAL The festival is tonight & all day Saturday at the Foss Waterway Seaport in Tacoma. Buy your advance ticket at 99 Bottles to save $5 per ticket ($20 CASH).
This year's festival should be a fun one. The event promoters tell us more than 50 breweries will be there...and when I last checked the list it included new Washington breweries that I ...and maybe you... haven't yet tried! There will also be firkins pouring on Friday and a special craft canned beer section on Saturday. Exciting stuff!! Get more festival information on the Tacoma Craft Beer Festival website.
If you're in the service and can't make it in for an advance ticket, be sure to bring your military ID with you as the $20 advance price is valid for you at the door. Everyone else, if you pay at the door it's $25.
Can't make it to the cash machine before coming into 99 Bottles for your ticket? For your convenience we accept debit/credit/gift card payments for tickets, but charge 91-cent (plus tax) service fee to help cover the expense of running your card. For those heading straight to the festival, you better make the stop...it's cash-only at the festival.

OUR FIRST UTAH BREWERY: UINTA Uinta.... like me, do you need to hear the pronunciation on Merriam-Webster to learn the proper way to say this brewery's name? As I begin tasting through this brewery's beers, I'm very excited to share them with you. Here's a quick peek at the Uinta beers that are at 99 Bottles--
Monkshine is an approachable adaptation of the classic style brewed in Belgian monasteries. Tangy influences of the yeast, assertive malt, and light, hoppy flavor, with notes of allspice and fruit. Pair it with roasted chicken with herbs and with spicy Indian flavors. 6.8% ABV, 26 IBU Wyld Extra Pale Ale is an American Pale Ale brewed with organic barley malt and hopped just enough to tempt an IPA loyalist. It begins with sweet malt flavor, then moves toward citrus and pine hop notes. The finish is dry with an infusion of sweet hoppiness. Pair it with romano cheese, burgers, pork loin, grilled steak, poultry, and smoked or grilled salmon. 4% ABV, 29 IBU
Punk'n is brewed with roasted pumpkin and seasonal spices of nutmeg, cinnamon, and clove. It's crisp, with a subtle hint of vanilla and honey. Pair it with roast turkey, squash ravioli, peach cobbler, or pumpkin cheesecake. 4% ABV, 10 IBU
XVI Anniversary Barleywine has a full rich malty character with serious amounts of hops, notes of nuts, chocolate and drief fruit. Pair it with blue cheese. 2009 Silver Medal Barleywine, World Beer Championships. 10.4% ABV, 72 IBU
Crooked Line Series: Cockeyed Cooper Bourbon Barrel-Aged Barleywine has malty hints of caramel, chocolate and dried fruit, with notes of bourbon with splashes of vanilla. This beer is generously hopped yet balanced. Aged in wood bourbon barrels for 6 months. Pair it with decadent desserts and aged cheddar cheese. 96/100 on RateBeer. 11.1% ABV Crooked Lines Series: Labyrinth Oak-Aged Black Ale is a multi-dimensional black ale, with intermingling notes of bittersweet chocolate, roasty malts, black licorice, and roasted oak. Pair it with flavorful cheeses and desserts. 97/100 on RateBeer. 13.2% ABV |

FRESH HOP BEERS ARE ARRIVING AT 99 BOTTLES
Fresh hop beers...If you haven't yet tried one, you're in for a treat. It's like tasting like the difference between using old dried herbs vs. fresh-picked garden herbs. The hops are picked from the vine and added to the beer, during the brewing process, within 24 hours of being picked. The hop harvest season just started, so these seasonal beers are coming in now...through mid October.
At 99 Bottles now:
· Bridgeport Hop Harvest
· Beer Valley Leafer Madness Imperial Pale Ale 2010 Fresh Hop
· Rogue Chatoe 1st Growth Wet Hop
· Sierra Nevada Estate Harvest Ale ...Deschutes Hop Trip is expected soon. Keep an eye on our facebook page for immediate notification.
If you're not traditionally a fan of well-hopped beers, I suggest you partner up with someone who is and get a taste of their beer. You may just be surprised and become a convert.

MORE NEW & RETURNING GOODIES AT 99 BOTTLES
Abita SOS - Save Our Shores: A Charitable Pilsner: Limited release; collector bottle! It's a crisp, refreshing pils that's brewed with wheat. It goes down easy. Visit the website for more info. Boot glasses: Warsteiner branded 1L machine press and 2L mouthblown boots are in. Plan ahead for Christmas gifts as these will likely sell out before November/December.
Boundary Bay IPA: Yay! It's back!
Crispin Lansdowne Cider: This cider was made with Irish Dry Stout yeast. It's unique...we loved it and fought over the dregs.
Duvel glasses: Yep, these are the ever-popular hurricane-shape on a stem with laser etch inside to keep your beer nucleated. Nucleation of your beer means the carbonation continually pushes off of the laser etch, releasing the beer's aromatics as you drink...and yes, it really does enhance the flavor. Regarding nucleation etch glasses: "I am a convert."
Eggenberg Samichlaus Classic: Small bottles have returned, REJOICE!
Epic Ales Mathilda (brewed with spearmint), The Fuj (brewed with white and black peppercorns), and Epic Ales trucker baseball caps & t-shirts.
Etienne Dupont Cidre Triple, 2009 vintage: Amazingly smooth and delicious hard cider from France. Very limited; only 6 bottles arrived at 99 Bottles.
King Porter: This delicious Baltic-style porter is locally brewed. Your history lesson: Polish King Kazimierz is featured on the label.
Howe Sound Pumpkineater: 33.8-oz PARTY SIZE pumpkin-pie-like beer in a bottle with a built-in swing-top closure. Enjoyed my bottle...well, actually the beer in it! This is very limited, just 30 cases came to Washington State. Get one to enjoy before it's gone.
Kotayk: Our first beer from the country of Armenia! I hear it's a delicious premium style lager, but haven't yet ventured in... New Belgium Lips of Faith Series, Sahti: Inspired by Finnish Sahti, a traditional rye ale brewed with juniper, NBB's Sahti is a hazy amber ale with a sturdy mouthfeel and a crisp and lively "finnish". ;-)
Redhook Eisbock 28: Aged for months at temperatures well below freezing, This beer is smooth, with a bittersweet malt complexity achieved by ice processing. Slightly alcoholic finish, but we were loving it anyway. Should cellar well. 11% ABV
Shmaltz Brewing's Freaktoberfest: A bitter ale that pours blood red and has an alcohol-by-volume of 6.66%, yes you read that right! Perfect for the evil in you and fun for Halloween parties. Limited release, so pick some up this October.
Slip Point Spicy Fish Wife: No fish was harmed or included in this beer, it's just brewed with plenty of hot jalepeno peppers! Get your hot and spicy on!! Locally brewed in Clallum Bay, Wash.
St. Bernardus Tripel: We've had a half a dozen requests for this over the past week, so it's back. Try it and learn what all the hubbub is about.
Upright Brewing Seven ...and Six: Refreshing, tart, delicious handcrafted ales. If you're a fan of Belgian Saisons and Witbiers, check these out. They're brewed in Oregon and have become some of my favorites. Pair them with lighter fare such as salad, fish, or chicken.
Widmer Brothers Reserve Series, Brrrrbon: "Hidden in the beautiful dark amber color are aromas of vanilla and caramel that compliment perfectly the presence of bourbon. Soft oak flavors transition into a sweet yet slightly dry finish. After aging the ale for four months, the malt and hop complexity of Brrr has melded harmoniously with the bourbon barrels and become a truly one of a kind beer." Beer stats: 9.4% ABV, 50 IBU, 18 OG
Witches Brew: Back in time for Halloween. These are 2009 vintages. Woodchuck Fall Cider: "Is it leaf flavored?" Hahaha...no. But it does have cinnamon, nutmeg, and a hint of American white oak, either a mighty fine cider or your standard Vermont tourism cliche. Wrasslers XXXX Irish Dry Stout: A Micheal Jackson pick. The last time we saw this at 99 Bottles it was only available in large bottles and it was flying out the door. Irish Dry Stout lovers loved it! But that was limited as it was left-overs from the Michael Jackson Rare Beer Club. This time the beer's only available in small bottles. However we get it, we're happy to provide. It's tasty! |
