New & returning beers...available now at 99 Bottles (from left to right)
Hopworks Ace of Spades is a limited-release imperial IPA. The beer won the coveted Gold Medal in the Imperial IPA at the 2009 Great American Beer Festival, beating out 76 other entries. The label says, "This hopped out beast had Amarillo, Cascade and Centennial hops, added at every point; mash tun, first wort, kettle, and dry hop. All the green goodness results in a beer with a huge citrus hop aroma, flavor and deep clean bitterness." Be sure to look for the hidden messages in this beer's painted label. 9.2% ABV, 100+ IBU
Hair of the Dog Blue Dot is one that we're excited to see finally return to 99 Bottles; it's an imperial IPA that's named after our planet: we are only a pale blue dot in this universe. Blue Dot is made with Rye malt and a combination of intense hop varieties. It's a hoppy treat with a pretty clean finish, and it scores Excellent on BeerAdvocate. Limited / rotating release. 7% ABV
Slip Point Beach-Fire Smoked Scotch is from a new one-man operated brewery way out on the Washington Peninsula in Clallum Bay. This is first bottle release is a smokey beer that'd be great partnered up with a smoked cheese/fish or seasonal Oktoberfest sausages. Keep an eye out for more Slip Point beers coming soon to 99 Bottles, including a very spicy jalepeno brew.
Wolters Pilsener is the newest addition to door #10 - German imports. It's crisp and refreshing, just as you'd expect from a pils and BeerAdvocates give it a "Good" for the style. 4.9% ABV
Great Divide Yeti is returning to stock after a week of being gone. This is a big, rich, roasty beer for the serious stout lover.
Rogue Double Chocolate Stout is a beer I've been looking forward to -- and the reviewers on BeerAdvocate are marking it as "Outstanding" but this big bottle may becon two or more drinkers as it's in a big red bottle and comes in at 8% ABV. I'm hearing reports that the chocolate aroma is to-die-for and the flavors are of roasty malts and semi-sweet cocoa, with hints of coffee.
MacTarnahan's Ink Blot Baltic Porter is a new seasonal release that's brewed with Munich, Caramel, Special B, and Carafa malts and Perle hops. Only 477 cases were produced and are being sent to Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho, Alaska, and Hawaii. 7.5% ABV
Rogue 21 Ale is an incredibly smooth and true-to-style Old Ale. 21 is available in commemorative black ceramic 750ml bottles. 14 ingredients were used to create the beer: 2 Row, Briess Amber, C-40, Wyermann Carafa & Rogue Farms RiskTM Malt; Willamette, US Goldings & Rogue Farms Revolution Hops; Simpsons Golden Naked Oats; Franco-Belges Carawheat; Molasses, Brewer's Licorice, Wyeast Old Ale Blend Yeast, and Free Range Coastal Water. This beer was brewed once, so bottles are limited. 21 scores "Excellent" on BeerAdvocate. 8% ABV
Silver City Oktoberfest is an authentic interpretation of this classic amber lager. Stop in for September's 1st Tuesday tasting as we'll be including it in the line-up. Discover the the rich malty sweetness and a spicy hop character of this popular Silver City seasonal brew. 6.4% ABV
Alaskan Double Black IPA is the current release in the Pilot Series and is a combination of traditional beer styles, with a flavor profile most similar to an Imperial IPA and the dark black color, rich flavor and light chocolate head usually found in heartier stouts and porters. It features fresh, citrus notes from Cascade & Centennial Northwest hops and the heavy, dry bouquet of roasted grains. Flavors are of coffee and bitter chocolate, citrus and pine with a dry finish and lingering bitterness. Pair it with savory black beans or spicy, blackened salmon or cod. 8.5% ABV, 70 IBU
Cascade Blackberry Ale spends over 6 months of lactic fermentaion and aging in small oak barrels. This "Belgian Flanders Style Red Ale" is refermented with fresh whole Northwest Blackberries and then hand bottled at the Raccoon Lodge & Brewery in Oregon. Blackberry Ale is tart and dry, a lovely beer suited for the goblets of sour ale lovers. This rotating release rates 95/100 by folks on RateBeer. 5.4% ABV
JW Lees Harvest Ale 2009 Port is an English style barleywine that's been matured in wooden casks of Willoughbys Crusted Port to impart sweetness and a heavy vinous characteristic. The tradition of port is very English and many of the port houses proudly trace their ancestry back to the U.K. Portuguese wines were fortified with brandy to improve their keeping properties during shipment. Harvest Ale can be enjoyed now or laid down like a fine wine for enjoyment to come. This beer scores "Excellent" on BeerAdvocate. 11.5% ABV
Dundee Oktoberfest is a sweet malty beer that helps you transition from the light summer beers to the hearty winter ales. Brewed with Caramel 60, Vienna, Munich & Chocolate malts and Czech Saaz hops for taste and aroma and Galena hops for bittering to balance the sweetness. 5.5% ABV
Redhook Late Harvest was once an East-coast only brew, but it's now available to us in the Western states. Late Harvest features a roasted, toasted malt aroma with the distinct flavors of Northern Brewer and Saaz Hops. Its malt complexity comes courtesy of its special malts: Crystal, German Smoked Munich, Caramel and Roasted. 5.9% ABV
Hale's O'Brien's Harvest Ale was first brewed in 1988 and is now a much-anticipated autumn classic here in the Northwest. The beer won a silver medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival and scores "Very Good" on BeerAdvocate. 6.5% ABV
Before & After 12% has been cycling in and out of stock at 99 Bottles. At 12% ABV, this Lithuanian double-bock is sweet and strong -- can you tell the difference between the lady on the Before & After image before and after you've drank a bottle? Check out the label here.
Lobster Lover's Porter is another Lithuanian beer and is the lightest (in color) porter that I've ever seen. It's flavors of sweet toffee pairs with lobster, crab and other sweet ocean delights. 8.2% ABV
Harvest Moon is the Coors/Blue Moon take on a pumpkin beer, a'la Belgian-style wit. 5.7% ABV
