Please put these items on your to do list.
- Your staff need to know how to sell effectively, not just ring in sales at the cash. Please contact me at retailmakeover@sympatico.ca - my Effective Retail Selling workshop takes 1.5 hours and can be done over the phone by conference call or by Skype.
- Share your daily sales targets with your staff. It amazes me how many retailers do not do this. Your staff needs to know what the sales goals of the store are and how they can contribute.
- An add on sales program, you must have one. Place items at the cash desk and teach your staff to show and sell these items to customer as they check out. This really works.
- Place several feature display in very visible areas of the store with impulse best price product. Change these areas up every week with new items.
- Improve you signage and pricing messages to better reflect what customers need to know to buy now.
- Remember what I've said before: 2-3 promotional events happening each and every month. No exception. So what's happening this month in your store? Make sure I get a copy of what your doing. Put me on your email list.
- Regular monthly marketing e-blasts to your customers. This is a must.You can also use regular mail. No excuses. So how have you decided to get in touch with your customers this month?
- This is the month to be proactive. Make that door open. Increased awareness of your store and what you sell = Increased Traffic which = Increased Sales.
Don't ignore customers when they come into your store. They are open to buy.
Remember selling is service and service is selling. You should have the best custom service in the area.
Finally - Make sure that the products you are selling continue to be relevant in your customers lives and that you have the best pricing. That's what customers are looking for.
