In this months newsletter I am putting you on a budget. My hope is that you check your monthly spending against what I am recommending and get control of what you are doing.

If you find that you are buying to much each month and that you are paying for your extravagant spending with money you don't have, "Stop and Take Control". Here is a big key for success in 2008. One of the biggest areas to right size your business and start to pay yourself more. Stay within your spending limits. Do not over buy, do not over spend.

I find most retailer's buy, and buy and buy.  Please stop that activity for a while and do some homework for me. Review what you spent last quarter against your sales using this guideline.

You can only spend 55% of your total sales revenues monthly or yearly on new product purchases.

How are you doing against what I've shared with you?

My hope is that you set monthly budgets for 2008 and stick to them.

Five top reasons why display is important to your retail business:

  1. First Impressions. You don't get a second chance here. Displays that are done right support your brand image and what you are all about as a retailer.
  2. Competition. There's a lot out there. Be the retailer everyone else talks about. Make a commitment to have great displays thru out your store.
  3. Educate the customer. Effective display can teach on so many levels. Best example of this - displaying the newest products in the hottest colors. May be your a retailer that believes in being eco friendly? Your displays show product from this important area. And so on.
