Tish B'Av

The Temple Mount is Mt. Moriah!
 
 

 2 Chron 3:1  

Now Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the LORD had appeared to his father David, at the place that David had prepared on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.   

 

Genesis 22:2
Then He said, "Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."      

 

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I want to share a brief overview about Tish B'Av.  It means the 9th day of Av.  This year it happens on Saturday July 28, 2012.  I have two videos about Tish B'Av by Jews and one video on the rebuilding of the temple done by my good friend Chris Mitchell who is the Mideast bureau chief for CBN.  There is a place for believers in Yeshua to enter into an understanding of this day of mourning among the Jewish people and to pray for them to know Yeshua.   It is on this day of mourning that the Jewish people will read through the book of Lamentations which was written by the prophet Jeremiah regarding the destruction of Jerusalem and the Holy Temple.

Tish B' Av is the fast of the seventh month.  We find this fast mentioned in the following verses:
"Say to all the people of the land, and to the priests: 'When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh months during those seventy years, did you really fast for Me-for Me?
 
"Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'The fast of the fourth month, The fast of the fifth, The fast of the seventh, And the fast of the tenth, Shall be joy and gladness and cheerful feasts For the house of Judah. Therefore love truth and peace.'
