Feel the Need for (Short Bursts of) Speed
If you're looking for a boost to your calorie burn, try adding just a few short, fast-paced bursts of speed (called intervals) to your regular walking, biking, swimming, or other aerobic routine. During higher intensity exercise intervals, more muscle fibers get worked, burning more calories even after you've completed your session. Even better news, you don't have to be an athlete to reap the benefit of intervals. According to exercise physiologist Martin Gibala, Ph.D., if you're a walker, pick up the pace for 20 - 30 seconds, then slow down to your usual pace for a minute or two, and then repeat. Start with just one, two, or three intervals. As you grow stronger, add more intervals and make them longer and more intense. |

There's been a lot of hoopla over Kentucky Fried Chicken's latest creation, the Double Down Chicken "Sandwich"- bacon, cheese, and sauce packed between two boneless fried chicken strips, with 32 g of fat and 1,380 mgs of sodium. KFC had originally planned to offer the sandwich for a limited time, but because it has been so popular (they expect to sell the 10 millionth sandwich in late May), KFC says they will make the sandwich available "for as long as consumer demand remains high".
If you want a much healthier HMR alternative to fast food chicken, try HMR's Chicken with Barbecue Sauce Entree. Only 270 calories, 1.5 g of fat and 510 mg of sodium. And since it only takes a minute in the microwave, it's even faster than fast food. Much better nutrition... and none of the guilt! |

1 can (12 oz.) cold Fresca® (diet grapefruit soda) 1 scoop HMR® 120 Vanilla (or one packet any vanilla HMR Shake mix) 1 banana, cut into chunks 1 cup frozen mixed berries (unsweetened)
Pour soda into a blender. Cover blender.
Begin mixing on lowest speed.
While blender is on, add shake mix and banana. Blend for 10 seconds.
Add frozen berries, a few at a time.
Continue blending until smooth.
