"My trip to Bali with Vision Arrow was broader and deeper than I could ever have imagined." --Maribeth Gray, Gila, NM
An Invitation.... Bali has long held a mystique for westerners. A lush, green, diamond-shaped island in the midst of the necklace that is the Indonesian archipelago, Bali has thrived for centuries while maintaining its artistic, religious, linguistic, and cultural independence.
For the Balinese people ancient values, such as the importance of community and creating beauty to
delight the gods are interwoven with pressing modern concerns about
sustainable agriculture and global climate change.
On this one-of-a-kind journey you will be one of only six people traveling with experienced guides to meet the Balinese people and participate in the life of this extraordinary culture as few visitors have the opportunity to do.
Together we'll slip behind the veil of enchanting impressions that greet most visitors to the island... and we will discover Bali from Within.
"Working with Trebbe's groups has deepened my understanding of my own culture and given me an
incredible opportunity to share my ancestors' knowledge. The participants leave
Bali with a newly discovered self." --A. Agung Gde Putra Rangki.

Pathways for body, mind, and heart...
*Meet and have conversations with a village priest, a shadow puppet master, a local ecologist, and a classical gamelan musician *Participate in an odalan, a celebration to honor the "birthday" of a village temple *Receive a blessing at the sacred spring Tirta Empul *Meander off the beaten path and into the dense green heart of the island and discover ancient temples, huge waterfalls, and medicinal fruits and flowers growing wild*Visit some of Bali's most sacred and historic sites, including the beautiful Ulun Danu Bratan, sacred to the goddess of fertility, where the temples seem to float on the water*Learn about centuries-old agricultural and irrigation systems that thrive today *And have ample time on your own to explore, browse markets and galleries, luxuriate in one of Ubud's renowned spas, go snorkeling or scuba diving, or simply sit on the balcony of your bungalow reading and looking out over the exquisite landscape Each night you'll stay in superior lodgings Balinese style: usually small, elegant bungalows with tiled roofs, private garden showers, furnishings made of local woods, and smooth white sheets on which fresh flower blossoms are sprinkled in the morning.
"Traveling to Bali with Trebbe Johnson is a great adventure.
She spirits you away to the parts of the island where enchantment abounds. We
highly recommend Bali from Within." --Jeannette and Jim Samanen, Philadelphia, PA J
The 2010 journey... We w ill be traveling to Bali in March 2010, so as to celebrate Nyepi,
the Balinese new year. Nyepi entails three days of very different kinds
of celebrations. On March 15, villagers parade papier maché ogoh-ogohs, or demons, through the streets, and everyone makes as much noise as possible to scare them away. Nyepi itself is the 16th and is a day of contemplation and reflection (even the international airport is closed!). On the 17th, people visit friends and eat food that is set out for sharing on the streets. We will participate in all these festive events.

The Inner Journey... In Bali from Within, we invite you to journey beyond the margins of your own seeking: to acknowledge your longing for a stronger connection with your world and for a way of life that brings you joy and personal fulfillment: a search that has never been more imperative than in this current time of ecological, social, and economic challenge and opportunity. Because of the small size of the group, we will share in one another's inner as well as outer journeys, a process that will be enhanced by frequent opportunities to engage in discussion, ask questions, and share our personal reflections and responses each evening in a Talking Circle. Fifteen percent of the profits will be donated to Tamblang Sacred Mountain Springs Conservation Project, Munduk, North Bali.
