Wicker Park Fest a HUGE Success!
Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate the WPB-sponsored Wicker Park Fest last weekend. Over 50,000 people attended, enjoying local eats, free bike parking, great activities and wonderful music. Make sure that you save the date for next year.

WPB First Fridays at the Flat Iron
The Flat Iron Artists Association presents WPB First Fridays!  On the First Friday of each month the Wicker Park/Bucktown area will come alive with a unique celebration of the arts.  It's a neighborhood pARTy and everyone is invited!  Start your evening at the historic Flat Iron Arts Building where you can explore two floors of art displayed in artists' studios and living spaces. Of course, the surrounding neighborhood is expecting you, so feel free to venture forth on your own and enjoy the boundless shopping, dining and nightlife opportunities our vibrant community has to offer. The next WPB First Friday will take place August 6 at the Flat Iron Building, 1579 N. Milwaukee from 6-10pm. Admission is always free, but donations are gratefully accepted. Tour the Make Believe Art in Vacant Storefronts Project
Take a self-guided tour of the WPB Art in Vacant Storefronts project, MAKE BELIEVE. Then VOTE online for your favorite installation. The wining artist will take home CHICAGO's LARGEST ART PRIZE. Wicker Park Farmer's Market
Visit the Wicker Park Farmer's Market on Sunday, from 8am-2pm. The great local veggies and flowers will be available every Sunday through October 24. Come on out to the Park (1425 N Damen Ave) and check it out. Free!

Bike Light Giveaway
On Tuesday August 10, in conjunction with the 14th District police and the Alderman's office, WPB will be giving away free bike lights to cyclists without headlights along Milwaukee Ave. You will have to be out riding your bike at twilight find out where!

A Year in Humboldt Park in Photo Exhibit
A Year in Humboldt Park is the naturalist photo essay of the year 2009 by local artist Dina Petrakis, curated by Candice Martens with collaboration by Gerald Ritchie. The exhibition will be at the historic Humboldt Park Boathouse, 1359 N. Sacramento Fridays from 6-8pm and Saturdays from 1-4pm August 11 through October 29, 2010.  Opening night will be August 11th, in conjunction with SummerDance at the Boathouse. SAVE THE DATE & ONGOING EVENTS
                       Run the 1st Ward with Alderman Moreno                
Join 1st Ward Alderman Moreno for a 3-mile run in the beautiful Wicker Park neighborhood on Thursday, August 19. Runners should meet at Running Away Multisport at 1634 W. North at 6:15pm and the run will begin at 6:30pm. If you are not too tired, there will be an after-run party at Piece Brewery & Pizzeria, 1927 W. North Ave.

Bucktown Arts Fest
The Bucktown Arts fest will be coming to the neighborhood August 28 and 29 from 11am - 7pm. This is the Fest's 25th year. For more information visit: http://www.bucktownartsfest.com/.

Electronics Recycling
In addition to WPB's usual FREE paper shredding and recycling day on Saturday September 11, we will also be offering FREE electronics recycling. Bring that TV you aren't using and donate your old computer to a good cause. We look forward to seeing you with your recyclables at the KMART parking lot on Ashland (near Division) between 10am-Noon. CAPS Meetings
Residents in the Wicker Park and Bucktown neighborhoods that are concerned about crime should plan to attend an upcoming CAPS meeting.  Wicker Park and Bucktown are located within the 13th and 14th Districts, and there are eight beats that cover the neighborhood. Below is the list of all eight beats and the date and location of each CAPS meeting.  All meetings are from 7-8pm unless otherwise noted:
Beat 1312 meets on the second Tuesday of every month at St Helen's Church, 2301 W. Augusta in the basement.
Beat 1322 meets on the first Wednesday of every month at the 13th District, 937 N. Wood.
Beat 1323 meets on the third Wednesday of every month at the Northwest Settlement House, 1012 N. Noble, 2nd Floor.
Beat 1424 meets the second Wednesday of every month at the Wicker Park Fieldhouse, 1425 N. Damen.
Beat 1431 meets the first Thursday of every odd-numbered month at the 14th District, 2150 N.  California.
Beat 1432 meets the third Thursday of every month at Holstein Park, 2200 N. Oakley.
Beat 1433 meets the second Tuesday of every month, 6:30pm, at St. Mary's Church (in the basement), 1850 N. Hemirtage.
