Public Meeting: Future Improvements at Milwaukee/Wood/Wolcott
When you pass through the intersection at Milwaukee, Wood and Wolcott, do you scratch your head wondering where exactly you belong in your car, on your bike, or on foot?  Come to a meeting at 7pm on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 to see what the future holds for that intersection, and to provide your input on how the proposed improvements can better accommodate all of us.  We will meet at the intersection, weather permitting.  Please RSVP to Frances, info@wickerparkbucktown.com, by Friday, July 23.

Summer Sizzle July Sidewalk Sale
On Saturday, July 24, 2010 from 11am-6pm and Sunday, July 25 from Noon to 5pm, check out this great neighborhood-wide sidewalk sale. Wicker Park Farmer's Market
Visit the Wicker Park Farmer's Market on Sunday, from 8am-2pm. The great local veggies and flowers will be available every Sunday through October 24. Come on out to the Park (1425 N. Damen Ave) and check it out. Free!

Business CAPS Meeting
Join other business owners for a CAPS meeting at 2150 N California on Tuesday July 27 from 9-10am. This session topic will be the Tripwire Reporting Initiative. For more information, contact the 14th District Community Policing office at (312) 744-1261.

Open Mic and Movie in the Park
Join the Wicker Park Advisory Council, Church in the City, and The Chicago Park District on Wednesday July 28 at the Wicker Park Ball Field (1425 N. Damen) for an Open Mic Night and a Movie in the Park. Both events are Free. Come out and perform your songs or poetry, or just enjoy listening. The open mic begins at 6pm, and sign ups start at 5pm. Art Opening: Hidden Treasures
The Polish Museum of America Graphic Art Collection presents "Hidden Treasures" a spectacular exhibition with 120 works on paper from 1919 to 1995 by 65 renowned Polish artists. The special exhibit runs July 30 - August 29, 2010 at the Polish Museum of America (984 N. Milwaukee Ave). There will be an opening reception Friday, July 30 from 7-9pm, admission $10. Wicker Park Fest
Come one come all to Milwaukee Avenue between North and Wood Street on July 31 and August 1. From Noon to 10pm, the Avenue will be hopping with 40+ bands, great local food, and craft vendors. With three stages and a special kid's area, this is sure to be a wonderful neighborhood fest. Suggested gate donation is $5. Wicker Park KIDS Fest
Join us for the Wicker Park Feset Kids festival held in conjunction with Wicker Park Fest July 31 and August 1, from Noon to 6 pm, located on Evergreen Ave between Milwaukee Ave. and Wicker Park Ave. WP Kids will be a jammed packed two-day event of family fun and non-stop entertainment on the Children's Learning Place stage. Acts include Super Stolie, Human-Tim/Robot Tim, Mary Macaroni and others. Come enjoy bounce house, face painters, games, crafts, petting zoo (Sat), and mini golf both days and train rides (Sun). National Night Out
Sponsored by the 14th District Police, America's National Night Out Against Crime is set for Tuesday, August 3, from 5-10pm at 1359 N. Sacramento, in the Humboldt Park boat house. There will be a Michael Jackson impersonator, a climbing wall, a petting zoo, free pizza and hot dogs, and free American flags to the first 300 people. Come join us for a positive night out!

WPB First Fridays at the Flat Iron
The Flat Iron Artists Association presents WPB First Fridays!  On the First Friday of each month the Wicker Park/Bucktown area will come alive with a unique celebration of the arts.  It's a neighborhood pARTy and everyone is invited!  Start your evening at the historic Flat Iron Arts Building where you can explore two floors of art displayed in artists' studios and living spaces. Of course, the surrounding neighborhood is expecting you, so feel free to venture forth on your own and enjoy the boundless shopping, dining and nightlife opportunities our vibrant community has to offer. The next WPB First Friday will take place August 6 at the Flat Iron Building, 1579 N. Milwaukee from 6-10pm. Admission is always free, but donations are gratefully accepted. Also, mark your calendars now for the traditional Wicker Park Bucktown Fall Arts Festival--Beyond the Coyote taking place September 10, 11 and 12, 2010. The FIAA is now excepting applications for Beyond the Coyote. There is no application fee and Just a $75 participation fee when accepted. Artists keep 100% of their sales from this 3 day event. If you or someone you know is interested in participating, email kevin@kevinlahvic.com  to request an application.

Run the 1st Ward with Alderman Moreno           
Join 1st Ward Alderman Moreno for a 3-mile run in the beautiful Wicker Park neighborhood on Thursday, August 19. Runners should meet at Running Away Multisport at 1634 W. North at 6:15pm and the run will begin at 6:30pm. If you are not too tired, there will be an after-run party at Piece Brewery & Pizzeria, 1927 W. North Ave.

CAPS Meetings
Residents in the Wicker Park and Bucktown neighborhoods that are concerned about crime should plan to attend an upcoming CAPS meeting.  Wicker Park and Bucktown are located within the 13th and 14th Districts, and there are eight beats that cover the neighborhood. Below is the list of all eight beats and the date and location of each CAPS meeting.  All meetings are from 7-8pm unless otherwise noted:

Beat 1312 meets on the second Tuesday of every month at St Helen's Church, 2301 W. Augusta in the basement.
Beat 1322 meets on the first Wednesday of every month at the 13th District, 937 N. Wood.
Beat 1323 meets on the third Wednesday of every month at the Northwest Settlement House, 1012 N. Noble, 2nd Floor.
Beat 1424 meets the second Wednesday of every month at the Wicker Park Fieldhouse, 1425 N. Damen.
Beat 1431 meets the first Thursday of every odd-numbered month at the 14th District, 2150 N.  California.
Beat 1432 meets the third Thursday of every month at Holstein Park, 2200 N. Oakley.
Beat 1433 meets the second Tuesday of every month, 6:30pm, at St. Mary's Church (in the basement), 1850 N. Hemirtage.
Beat 1434 meets the second Monday of every month, 6:30pm, at the Bucktown Wicker Park Library Branch, 1701 N. Milwaukee.
