DNA seeks community groups and area organizations to participate in this year's Window Wonderland event as window decorators, gift basket sponsors or performing groups.

 

The theme of this year's event is "Win This Window" where voters will not only select their favorite decorated windows but also earn a chance to win gift baskets inside them. Window Wonderland takes place on Saturday, Dec. 1 in conjunction with the City of Elgin's Tree Lighting Ceremony.

Elgin Home for the Holidays

Elgin Home for the Holidays is a community partnership bringing together many Elgin area non-profit organizations in the spirit of collaboration to collectively promote all of the various holiday activities, attractions and events the Elgin non-profit community has to offer. This year's kick-off event at the Gail Borden Library on Saturday, Nov. 3 promises to be even bigger with the new Home for the Holidays Craft Show. There will also be holiday entertainment, activities and all participating non-profits will be in attendance promoting their holiday events, donation drives and volunteer opportunities!

DNA Prom Time Awards Gala

Don't get caught with your garters down!

 

Time is running out to RSVP for the DNA Prom Time Awards Gala on Thursday, October 11 from 6-9PM at the Grand Victoria Casino, 250 S. Grove Avenue. Individual tickets are $65 each ($55 for DNA members) or Sponsored Tables of 8 are $560 per table ($485 for DNA members). Reserve your Gala tickets now by visiting the DNA Awards Gala Ticket Reservation Page.

 

Deadline to reserve tickets is this Friday, October 5. If you're planning on attending, RSVP NOW!

 

There will be prom photos, the crowning of the Prom King & Queen and their court, a yearbook photo wall, gift basket silent auction, dinner and dancing to all your favorite prom tunes from over the years, and Prom After Parties immediately following the Gala at Martini Room, Prairie Rock Bar & Grill and Villa Verone.

 

If you are unable to attend this year's Gala, you can still support the DNA's revitalization efforts by purchasing 50/50 Gala raffle tickets for $10 each. Winners need not be present at the Gala. Stop into the DNA, 2 Douglas Ave. or purchase by credit card online at our Gala Raffle Ticket Page.

#2: Calling All Prom Kings & Queens

DNA Prom Court

We are now registering contestants for the DNA Prom Time Awards Gala Prom Court for your chance to be crowned Prom King or Queen of the 2012 DNA Prom Time Awards Gala on Thursday, October 11 at Grand Victoria Casino.

 

Registration fee is $20 per person in advance. You can also enter for FREE before October 9 by agreeing to sell a minimum of FIVE 50/50 raffle tickets in advance or during cocktail hour.

 

All contestants receive a Prom Court sash - sponsored by Sherman Health and The Gibson Group. Our Gala audience vote determines the winners. Remember that we need both Prom Queens AND Kings...so "man up" fellas!

 

To register for the DNA Gala Prom Court in advance, call 847-488-1456 or e-mail downtownelgin@gmail.com. 50/50 raffle ticket packets are available for pick-up Monday-Friday from 9AM-5PM at DNA, 2 Douglas Avenue in downtown Elgin.

#5: Working at Elgin Art Showcase

Independent PlayersIndependent Players presents "Working," a musical based on Studs Terkel's famous book, adapted by Stephen Schwartz and Nina Faso with additional contributions by Gordan Greenberg. 

 

Performance dates and times are October 5, 6, 12 and 13 at 8PM. All performances take place at the Elgin Art Showcase, 164 Division Street, 8th Floor in downtown Elgin.

#6: Chocolate! The Festival at Holy Trinity

 

Chocolate! The FestivalChocolate! The Festival is Saturday, October 6 from 8AM-2PM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 Division Street.
 
The sixth annual fundraising event is open to the public and features a choice of hundreds of handmade chocolates, a rummage sale, bake sale, quilt auction, quilting calendars, wine tasting, breakfast and lunch.
 
Each box of chocolate is $7 each and contains 12 pieces.

Imagine 90 minutes of complete improvisation, a la Whose Line is it Anyway? GreenRoom Productions's improvisers take audience suggestions and true-life audience stories and turn them into hilarious theatre pieces right before your eyes!
