Deacon to Plant New Church
The Reverend Susan Tweardy-Rhodes, Deacon of St. Raphael's by the Sea, is leaving Fort Myers Beach to plant a new parish in Highlands County
"To everything there is a season ..."
As Solomon tells us in Ecclesiastes 3:1, every thing has a season and so now it seems that my season with St. Raphael's By The Sea Anglican Church will come to an end on Sunday, February 27th.
God, in His wisdom, brought David and I to St. Raphael's when we were without a spiritual home. He blessed us with the opportunity to get to know Pastor Alice and all of you at St. Raphael's By The Sea. And He allowed us the privilege of passing on to some of you the blessings of His healing ministry.
But God, in His wisdom, also knows that it is difficult for us to drive nearly 100 miles each way each Sunday to fellowship with you. And so, He has opened up an opportunity for David and I to plant and nurture an Anglican fellowship where we live in Highlands County. We are both very excited and a little frightened at this tremendous task that He has set before us. But we know that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us! And we covet your prayers for this new expression of Christ's body in Highlands County.
It has been my great pleasure to serve you during my time here. All of you at St. Raphael's By The Sea Anglican Church will continue to be in our prayers as we hope that we will continue to be in yours.
Blessings,
Deacon Susan
