Greetings!

We hope that 2009 is off to a promising start for you and your family.  We have added a new guide to our family of publications that will be released at the end of this month.  The brand new, 2009 Fall Creek Falls Visitors' Guide will be available from January 30, but you can preview the guide online at www.Go2FCF.com.  We are quite pleased with the way the guide has come together and it will offer additional opportunities to our visitors to any of the regions.  All are within a short drive of one another; each offering unique opportunities for those looking for an affordable, family friendly destination.  Check it out!

The 2009 Dale Hollow Lake Visitors' Guide is also available (online and print) and we've just launched the newly revised website with a brand new look.  www.Go2DHL.com is online and ready for you to explore.  We invite your feedback, so anytime you have a question or comment, just send us an e-mail.

Each of these guides feature brand new stories about people and places of interest in the region.  Annie's blog has new entries that will further offer additional insights into various destinations.  We plan to post something new each week throughout the year about something of interest to one of the 3 regions.  We will turn our creative attention to the www.Go2BSF.com website next and the 2009-10 Big South Fork Visitors' Guide to be released in May.

These publications will be distributed at the 55th Annual Indianapolis Boat, Sport & Travel Show from February 20-March 1, 2009 at the Indianapolis State Fairgrounds.  We'll be at booth C-51.  For more information on the show, visit www.IndySportShow.com.  They will also be distributed by our partners at other shows throughout the year, plus we expect to be at more ourselves (details as they are available).

Below, you will find information regarding specials and items of interest through some of our friends.  We hope you will find the information irresistible.
Winter Events & Activities....

Just because it's winter, doesn't mean there isn't anything to see and do.  Weather is always an important consideration, but when the weather is right - fishing, horseback riding, off road adventures, hiking, biking and more can be at their best.  Check out our websites for ideas about places to stay and other helpful information at www.Go2DHL.com (Dale Hollow Lake), www.Go2BSF.com (Big South Fork), or www.Go2FCF.com (Fall Creek Falls).

Winter is a perfect time to get out on the lake and enjoy some serious fishing.  It's becoming the preferred season by many anglers.  Anyone that is tired of being cooped up indoors needs to find time to get away, dress in winter attire (available at places such as www.DaleHollowOutdoors.com and others), make the proper arrangements (including making sure others know exactly where you plan to go and if necessary let the park officials know of your plans), and get out and enjoy the great outdoors.  The Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area, Pickett State Park, Fall Creek Falls State Park, Cordell Hull Birthplace State Park, and others have excellent trails that are open year round.  For park information, check out www.TNStateParks.com and choose the park that you would like more information about, then make your plans.

Don't forget to make plans now for Valentines Day!  It is on Saturday this year, so it would be a perfect time to plan a getaway for the love of your life.  Rent a cozy cabin with a fireplace, a bed and breakfast suite, or a rustic retreat to please your sweetheart.  After all the stress of 2008, your love can use the attention.  Make your reservations early to ensure your choice of destination.  Historic Rugby & Grey Gables Bed & Breakfast both have special Valentines Day Dinners planned, as well as, Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park.  Many of the restaurants have special dinners during Valentines Day but rarely list these with us.  If you have a favorite restaurant, or like what you've read about one of our advertisers, please give them a call for all the details.  They'll be glad you called.  If you would like to take in a theatre presentation while in the area, the Cumberland County Playhouse will be presenting On Golden Pond (January 24-April 26) and Seussical (February 13-April 5) for your entertainment pleasure.   If you would prefer a bluegrass music performance, check out the schedules at www.SunsetJammers.com and  www.BluegrassUnderground.com for the latest details on performances at their venues.

The Corps of Engineers along with the Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park will have special Eagle Watch Weekends in January & February (January 23-24, 30-31 and February 20-21).   They may already be filled up for the events, but if you are interested, you might be able to get on a waiting list for the weekend.  For reservation information, please call 931.243.3136.  They are usually booked up early, but set up a waiting list in case someone cancels.

Anytime of year is a great time to take a deeper look into the heritage of the area.  The Alliance for the Cumberlands has just launched a new Heritage Tour Video about various historical venues in the Upper Cumberland region (which includes much of the DHL, BSF & FCF regions).  Check it out and learn more about areas that you would like to visit while you are here.

For all you ATV enthusiests out there, Brimstone Recreation has a special offer for their patrons. They had a great year in 2008 and had a great time sharing Brimstone with everyone through the many events and activities.  They expect 2009 to be the best year yet, so don't miss out!  Since you helped make last year a great success, they want to invite you to join them for the coming year.  So take advantage of their offer to all 2008 permit holders to get 10% off and a free map* with a 2009 annual permit purchase between January 9th and 31st, 2009!  But time is limited and the offer is only for 2005-2008 permit holders.  So, if that isn't you, but you would like to have the opportunity to cash in on future promotions give them a call today at 1-800-BRIMSTONE or visit them on the web at www.BrimstoneRecreation.com.
