Just because it's winter, doesn't mean there isn't anything to see and do. Weather is always an important consideration, but when the weather is right - fishing, horseback riding, off road adventures, hiking, biking and more can be at their best. Check out our websites for ideas about places to stay and other helpful information at

Winter is a perfect time to get out on the lake and enjoy some serious fishing. It's becoming the preferred season by many anglers. Anyone that is tired of being cooped up indoors needs to find time to get away, dress in winter attire (available at places such as
www.DaleHollowOutdoors.com and others), make the proper arrangements (including making sure others know exactly where you plan to go and if necessary let the park officials know of your plans), and get out and enjoy the great outdoors. The Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area, Pickett State Park, Fall Creek Falls State Park, Cordell Hull Birthplace State Park, and others have excellent trails that are open year round. For park information, check out
www.TNStateParks.com and choose the park that you would like more information about, then make your plans.
Don't forget to make plans now for Valentines Day! It is on Saturday this year, so it would be a perfect time to plan a getaway for the love of your life. Rent a cozy cabin with a fireplace, a bed and breakfast suite, or a rustic retreat to please your sweetheart. After all the stress of 2008, your love can use the attention. Make your reservations early to ensure your choice of destination.
Historic Rugby &
Grey Gables Bed & Breakfast both have special Valentines Day Dinners planned, as well as,
Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park. Many of the restaurants have special dinners during Valentines Day but rarely list these with us. If you have a favorite restaurant, or like what you've read about one of our advertisers, please give them a call for all the details. They'll be glad you called. Anytime of year is a great time to take a deeper look into the heritage of the area. The Alliance for the Cumberlands has just launched a new
