Greetings!
It's hard to believe, but another month has come and gone. I am so glad that I can call this place home. This is the time of year that our slower more laid back lifestyle takes a bit of a turn with all the festivals, events and harvest activities around the area. Autumn has long been a time to reflect upon the year's bounty and savor the sweet joys of life before winter sets in. Winters used to be a time when you were stuck at home for days, weeks, or even longer on end due to the hard work that had to be done, poor transportation system and distance between towns and even individual homes. Thankfully, things have improved. There are still many tasks that must be accomplished, but we have equipment that makes it much easier and the roads, and the maintenance of those roads, is wonderful. We still relish the harvest season and the opportunity to gather and enjoy those special people, places and things that mean so much to us. All this being said, the next few weeks are absolutely jam packed with things to do, while we enjoy the ever changing autumn landscape that surrounds us - until those final glorious leaves fall back to the earth to nourish and protect the ground for the bounty that will be in the future. We will highlight some of the upcoming events in the paragraphs below, but please visit the events pages on www.Go2DHL.com and www.Go2BSF.com for our complete listing of events around the regions. While you are in the area, please be sure to stop at some of the local roadside stands and Farmer's Markets and take advantage of the bounty of fresh produce available for sale to share the bounty with you. There is nothing quite like homegrown/local produce to deliver the most flavorful and nutritious foods.

FISHING!
Fall kicks off another type of season on Dale Hollow Lake. During the summer months, fishing is on the back burner except at night. Autumn invites the anglers to come and test their skills during the day once again. The waters begin to be cooler - which the fish prefer to the heat of summer's days. Three major tournaments will be hosted on Dale Hollow Lake in the coming weeks. The first being the much anticipated American Bass Anglers Couples National Championship (out of Sunset Marina & Resort) being held between Sept. 26-27. These anglers are scheduled to begin arriving around the 21st to begin their practice sessions on the 22nd. The communities surrounding Dale Hollow Lake have arrange a week of activities to make the folks feel extra welcome. Area tours are scheduled for Sept. 23rd and 24th with a welcome dinner being held on Sept. 25th. On October 4th and 5th, the 23rd Annual Dale Hollow Bass Classic will be held out of Star Point Resort. You must register by contacting the Chamber of Commerce office before the deadline. Give them a call at 1.888.407.4604 for all the details or download the entry form from the web link above.
October 18 & 19 is the 5th Annual Dale Hollow Sportsman CITGO-Harris Oil Fishing Tournament out of Pleasant Grove will be held beginning at 6:30AM each morning. If you have any questions or would like to sign up, call 931.243.2636 or 931.243.6133.
The public is invited to attend the weigh-ins at all these tournaments to share in the excitement. These weigh-ins generally begin between 2:00-3:00PM each day. If you come early, it's quite likely you will find someone there who will be willing to share their fishing stories with you, or maybe you are the one that would like to share the story. Either way, come have a good time.
Hunters! Keep in mind that the fall hunting season is also a great time to visit the area. We recommend that you visit the Tennessee and Kentucky Wildlife Recreation websites for more information on the hunting seasons and public lands available to hunt upon in the area.
