Summer Fun!
Great Events to Entertain the Whole Family!!!
Greetings!

Summer is in full swing!  The Dale Hollow Lake and Big South Fork regions are a flurry of activities.  People from far and near are out and about enjoying all that nature has to offer and the many activities going on throughout the many small towns and communities that dot the region.  Not only can you enjoy the great lake activities and the miles of trails; county fairs, festivals and musical events are abundant.  There are ample historical attractions throughout the area to visit year around.

The Livingston Exchange Club is hosting a tour of historical homes and 2 cemetaries on Saturday, July 19th from 10:00AM-12:00PM (CST).  A walking tour will feature the Oma Jean Flowers Bowman House, Mofield/Simmons House and the Wright House.  Parking will be available at the First Methodist Church on Roberts St. in Livingston, TN.  A van will be available for those needing assistance.  Also featured during this event will be the historical Daugherty and Bledsoe Cemeteries.  Mule drawn wagons will be in the field between McHenry Circle and South Spring Street across from El Rey Mexican Restaurant for a ride to the cemetaries.  Myers-Zollicoffer Camp 1990, Sons of the Confederate Veterans, will be presenting a "Livingston History" at the Daugherty Cemetery.  Assisting with this event will be the Capt. Sally Tompkins #2123 United Daughters of the Confederacy.  At approximately 12:30PM, a memorial and dedication honoring Pvt. Charles TO. Bledsoe, Co.F, 8th Tn. Inf., CSA will be held a the Bledsoe Cemetery.  Tickets will be sold in advance at the American Bank & Trust, Bank of Overton County, First National Bank, Union Bank, The Antique Market and The Paper Place in Livingston.  More information is available by e-mail to scc2@twlakes.net.  All proceeds go to the Holland J. Stephens Center for abused children.  Tickets are $10 for the walking tour and the mule ride to the cemeteries.  The dedication and memorial service at the Bledsoe Cemetery is FREE.

We cordially invite you to come visit the area and make memories to last a lifetime!  If you are in the CoolSprings Gallaria area near Nashville, TN this weekend, stop by and register for a free 1/2 day kayak trip with Against the Flow or a Weekend Getaway to the area at our booth during the Staycation Expo.
County Fairs Highlight Activities!
Fun Fairs!
County Fairs abound throughout the summer months bringing carnival rides, carnival foods, and compitition with them.  Most also have beauty pageants, demolition derbies, horse shows, exhibits and more throughout the week.  Coming up in the next few weeks are the first Annual Pickett County Fair  which will be held from July 14-19 at the Horseman's Association Fairgrounds near Byrdstown, just off Cordell Hull Memorial Drive; the Monroe County Fair July 14-20 in Tompkinsville, KY; Overton County Fair scheduled for July 21-26 near Livingston, TN; and the Burkesville/Cumberland County Fair will be held July 25-Aug. 2.
Musical Events and More!
Music, Crafts, Food & Fun for the Whole Family!
Many musical events also fill the air in the coming weeks.  Historic Rugby will feature Legacy Classic Rock Band (a benefit concert) on July 12 and The Boys of County Nashville (4-piece Irish Band) on Aug. 9.  The Overton County Bluegrass Festival is scheduled for July 18th and 19th.  Also on July 19th will be the 5th Annual Ed Wiley IV BBQ Cook-Off at East Fork Stables and Wartburg's 20th Annual WECO Radio Signature Event - The Outdoor Show (rain date for this event is July 26th).  And the Upper Cumberland Cajun Day featuring music by "Delicious Blues Stew" will be held at Highland Manor Winery on July 26th.
Remember, mark your calendars for the Hwy. 127 Yard Sale (Aug. 7-10) and the Roller Coaster Yard Sale  (Oct. 2-4) coming up soon.  These marathon yard sales can help stretch already tight budgets with really less gas than tackling the job searching for bargains.  We hope you will be able to take part in some of these wonderful events.  Be sure to let the organizers know where you heard about their events.

Sincerely,
