Celebrate Our Country's Legacy!!! 
Greetings!

Happy Independence Day!!!  Freedom is a priceless commodity that we all to often take for granted.  The people that call the Dale Hollow Lake and the Big South Fork regions of Southern Kentucky and Northern Tennessee home are grateful to live here.  We relish the opportunity to celebrate the lives of those that have sacrificed to allow us the freedoms we have in this great country.  We realize things are not perfect, but there is no other country we wish to call home.   

During the 4th of July each year, communities and businesses around each region enjoy celebrating the holiday in many different ways.  (You can find a list of area fairs, festivals and events by visiting our websites:  www.Go2DHL.com and www.Go2BSF.com and clicking on the events tab.)  Fentress County, TN combines their fireworks display with a Demolition Derby each year.  Pickett County, TN has an afternoon of old fashioned games, entertainment and watermelon eating before the big fireworks blowout.  Willow Grove Resort celebrates with the only fireworks display on the lake.  Stearns, KY's celebration lasts from July 1-5 with their Homecoming and Heritage Days.  Scott County, TN has their Fireman's 4th.  Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park, KY has a 3 day celebration and there are many more events and activities around the regions including Pig Roasts, Potlucks, and more fun and games.  The county fairs are dotting the regions, so check the event calendars for that information.

We celebrate the contributions of others throughout the year with such great Americans heroes as former Secretary of State, Cordell Hull, and WWI hero Sgt. Alvin C. York from the area.  The entire area is rich in history.  The Free Hills Community Club is presenting a touring exhibit from the Smithsonian Institute - "New Harmonies Celebrating American Roots Music" at the Clay County Fairgrounds"  now through August 3rd.  We cordially invite you to come and join with us in these celebrations while you are in the area and if you haven't made plans to come, please do, now or anytime.
Dining on DHL!Mitchell Creek Restaurant
The much anticipated opening of Mitchell Creek Marina's restaurant is here!  Their brand new restaurant is now complete with southern style cooking served right in their spacious dining areas on the water.  One of the unique features of this restaurant is their multi-level outdoor seating area.  Of course, they're not the only restaurant accessible by water.  Sunset Marina & Resort's Chef Zoom is busy dishing out his fabulous creations, East Port Resort offers their fantastic cheeseburgers, and others around the lake offer more options.  There's no need to leave the water every meal while you are here, just take your boat right up to any of these locations right on the water or at the edge.  Never be shy about exploring the area.  Many tasty treasures await your discovery.

We would like to thank each of you for all the positive things you do to help make the United States of America the great country we share.  A special thank you to all our veterans that have served our country througout the years and their families for supporting them.  We appreciate your service!
Don't forget the many other things to see and do around the regions such as kayaking, white water rafting, bird watching, star gazing and so much more!  The Dale Hollow Lake region is known for the great water recreation activities on the lake and the Big South Fork region for trail riding, but there is so much, much more to explore in the surrounding communities. 

Mark your calendars too for the Hwy. 127 Yard Sale (Aug. 7-10) and the Roller Coaster Yard Sale  (Oct. 2-4) coming up later this year.  You never know what bargains await when these great sales come along.

Jamestown Sports Grill
The Big South Fork region also offers a brand new twist.  Jamestown Sports Grill in Jamestown, TN is now open with room for over 400 people with 40 flat screen TV's to enjoy the local or other major sporting events. They serve great Italian food on Wednesday nights and Friday nights are Fish & Chips night.  The rest of the week they feature their scrumptious menu which you can view on their website, www.jamestownsportsgrill.com.  There are way too many delicious food options to list here.
