BAMA Girls Perform for local audiences!
During the Military Team Bass Tournament on Dale Hollow Lake, ABA and the DHL Coalition arranged to have a USO Show performance following the registration dinner. Prior to the main show, the BAMA Girls also took their act to the Pickett County Care and Rehabilitation Center to perform for the residents. A great time was had by all. The ladies along with John Carter and some of Toby Keith's Easy Money Band and David Thibodeaux dazzled the audience with their high energy acts. Mothers are a special lot. Everyone has or has had one in their life. Some are more perfect than others, but they are all special. They gave of themselves to give birth to their children or have re-arranged their lives to adopt or foster children. Take time on this special day that has been set aside to remind us all to be thankful for them, to let them know how special you feel they are in your life. Time is our most precious resource, so be sure to spend a bit of that on each one along with any other gift you might give them.  The roots of this region run deep in music. We are very fortunate to have our own local celebrity in Sierra Hull. Sierra has been gracing her audience with her magnificent musical talent since the tender age of 8. Now 16, she is celebrating the release of her second CD, Secrets, which hit the shelves and airways on May 6th, as well as the recent announcement that she will be portraying Billy Graham's sister in an upcoming movie. Over the past few years, Sierra has toured with Alison Krauss, played the Grand Old Opry and Carnegie Hall, yet she still finds time in her schedule to make local appearances and spend time with her family and friends.  THE BRAVE LITTLE DUCKLING! Recently, Sunset Marina & Resort shared the following e-mail with us. We in turn wanted to share it with you. They also allowed us to share their coupon with you too! Enjoy!
With Mother's Day coming up this weekend we would like to pay tribute to all the mothers out there with this great story of a loving and dedicated mother who just introduced 13 new "children" to this world. This morning as the last duckling (13 of 13) was preparing for a "Leap of Faith" into the big blue waters of Dale Hollow Lake. The mother had sat faithfully on the eggs for nearly 30 days in a flower pot on the deck of the Marina. The marina crew and visitors had been anticipating the arrival of the cute baby ducks for weeks. On the morning of Saturday May 3rd, the eggs began cracking open and the chirping began. In less than 24 hours, the mother began nudging them out of the flower pot one by one. The flower pot is 24" tall so the baby's first leap was scary enough. Then she urged them over to the edge of the dock some 16 feet away for the leap from the dock to the water. This leap is more challenging as it is over 36" from the deck to the water and many unknown predators, (bass, turtles, otters, etc.) are swimming beneath the cool clear waters of Dale Hollow Lake. This brave little duck finally made the leap not into a safe harbor but into a dangerous world filled with predators. Reminds us that Faith in our mothers and especially in God will stand against all of the predators of this world.
