Have a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving Weekend
The AGC would like to wish all of our members a wonderful holiday weekend. The AGC office will be closed beginning Wednesday, November 23rd at 12pm and will re-open Monday morning, November 28th at 7:30 am. Please drive safe and don't spend too much on Black Friday!
President Makes 3 Percent Withholding Repeal Law
President Obama this morning signed into law the 3% Withholding Repeal and Job Creation Act. The law permanently repeals the requirement that federal, state, and large local governments begin withholding 3 percent of each payment of $10,000 or more to a contractor after January 1, 2013. Today's bill signing is the culmination of a five-year effort by AGC, chapters, members, and industry stakeholders to repeal the 2006 provision. On Nov. 16, the U.S. House of Representatives approved the bill, clearing the measure for the President. The bill passed by a vote of 422 to 0, and follows a 95 to 0 vote in the U.S. Senate on Nov. 10. During the repeal campaign, AGC chapters and thousands of AGC members heeded the call and sent letters, made phone calls, and met with their representatives and senators in their Capitol Hill offices and at home to educate Congress on why this law needed to be repealed.

Keep Spokane Moving - Let's Finish What We Started. For over 50 years, the Spokane community has talked about building a North-South freeway. Last Wednesday, we opened the interchange connecting the completed portion of the Freeway to US 2. Still, many people believe they won't see this project completed in their lifetime.
Keep Spokane Moving is a regional education and public relations campaign aimed at making sure that does not happen. By educating the public, generating enthusiasm and creating a "can-do" attitude about the project, we can show our elected officials and state leadership that the community supports this project and wants it finished.
Get involved with the campaign today, here's what you can do:
- Visit our website to learn more about the campaign and ways to get involved.
- Like us on Facebook - this is the best way to stay up-to-date on what's happening with the corridor.
- Put an NSC sticker on your car, work truck or fleets. Contact us and let us know what you need.
