Greetings!
One of my fondest childhoods memories has to be the Christmas of 1963. I was six years old (yes, I know, it was loooong time ago). My older brother and I hatched a plan to sneak out of our room on Christmas Eve while everyone was asleep, and play with our presents without our parents knowing. We had practiced creeping down the hall past my parent's bedroom, identifying every squeaky floorboard that could give us away. We were stealth toy spies, intent on pulling off the greatest coup in the history of Christmas.
In the middle of the night on Christmas Eve while everyone else was asleep, we crawled down to the living room on our hands and knees and hit the jackpot. Presents were piled under the tree just waiting to be plundered. We carefully opened each gift, looked at it and rewrapped it until we found IT...a kid sized pool table, waiting to be assembled. We actually put the pool table together and then began to play pool in our living room. Being the child geniuses that we were, we thought that a squeeky floorboard might wake up our parents, but were confident the sounds of us playing pool would remain undetected.
It only took a few minutes for my dad to hear us, and we were unceremoniously hustled back to bed. We thought we had pulled off the biggest heist in the history of Christmas, and to this day, I can't look at a pile of gifts under a Christmas tree without seeing my brother and I playing pool in the dark of a magical Christmas night.
